Group Stage Standings

Basic Tournament Information for Skirmish 29:

Please see tournament page for all information

  • Team Size: 8 combatants + 3 reserves
  • Map: Mines
  • Mode: Encounter
  • Tier Point Limit: 24 points max
  • Tier Limits:
    • This represents the max tier allowed. Teams are allowed to bring lower tiers.
    • Light: Tier 3
    • Medium: Tier 3
    • Heavy: Tier 3
    • TD: Tier 3
    • SPG: Tier 3

Edit:

Battles from the Group Stage Round 1 played on 7/28/2014 will not count.

There will be no tie-breakers on Thursday, 7/31/2014. Instead, Group Stage Round 3 will be played. Any tied teams will move on to the Alpha Playoffs.

EDIT: 7/30/14            ****************** MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT*******************

For Tonight's matches 7/31 they will be moved to the WEST Server - the system should warn you as special battles pops that you need to move to WEST Server

This will only be for tonight at this point and all teams will need to stay posted for tomorrow as to if we will be moving back to the East server for tomorrow nights matches.

Skirmishes now have three days of group play (Monday-Wednesday) followed by a playoff (Friday-Sunday). Teams can choose to play only in the weekend playoff or participate in group play for better seeding and greater prizing.

After completing group play, a standings table will sort all teams across all groups based on points earned against points possible. Prizes are awarded at completion of group play to teams finishing in the top half of the standings. These teams qualify for the Alpha Playoff. All remaining teams qualify for the Bravo Playoff.

Alpha Playoff

  • This playoff consists of the top 50% of group play teams who will play for a larger prize pool. Group play performance will determine playoff seeding.

Bravo Playoff

  • This playoff consists of all remaining teams and includes teams registering solely for the weekend. These teams will compete for a smaller prize pool and the playoff brackets are not seeded.

Both the Alpha & Bravo Playoffs will use multiple brackets holding a maximum of 16 teams. This means multiple winners are awarded prizing for their standing in their respective bracket.

Teams and players may only register once for the skirmish.

Registration is open.

An important note to all teams...there has been an addition to the rules that y'all should be aware of:

Reporting Technical Victories/Defeats

  • Alpha Playoffs: Captains are encouraged to report any technical victories for Friday's Playoff Round of 16.
  • The team that received the technical defeat will not receive any gold for the Alpha Playoffs. They will still receive gold for competing in the Group Stage.
  • The team with the technical victory will be awarded 250 gold, plus the gold earned based on their final position. This is only for the Friday Playoff Round of 16.
  • To report a technical victory:
    • Send an email to tournaments@wargamingamerica.com immediately after the round has ended
    • Subject: <tournament name> Technical Defeat
    • Your in-game name as team captain
    • Your team name
    • The opposing team name
    • Screenshot showing the complete technical victory. A partial technical victory will not count.

Please explain -

Thank you

This seems to happen during the playoff portion of the Skirmish, but have seen it a few times during the group stages.

 Thanks!

"•Screenshot showing the complete technical victory. A partial technical victory will not count."

I assume this means after three technical victories against the same team, since it take three wins to move on to the next round.

Important note for all players:

I want to make sure that everyone has read the "Victory Conditions."

Based on the feedback from Skirmish 27, we have decided to move away from the Group Stage battles starting every 12 minutes. With this skirmish, it will revert back to battles starting every 15 minutes.

The groups will continue to be limited to 8 teams per group.

That is correct. The idea is that you have to win the round by technical victory (the enemy team needs to be a complete no-show).

Yep! We've been doing some high tiers, so it's about time to give the lower tiers some love :justwait:

The announcement page has the final on August 4th (a Monday). The actual tournament page has the final on Sunday August 4th (Sunday is the 3rd). Which is it? Is the final Sunday or Monday?

AWESOME. I like the idea of lower tier tourneys (and even when they did lower tier clan wars). It gives people a more formal and structured environment to learn and grow in the game, and people tend to be better mannered in tournaments and cw from the little I have seen...

I see what you did there, and "conditionally" I approve. I have heard of teams not getting into the next battle after a full time battle, and 15 instead of 12 minutes will address that. However, that will make battles start as late as 23:30 eastern. is there any chance that "for future skirmishes" the start time could move up, even as little as half an hour? or reduce group sizes by one? or make the interval 14 or even 13 minutes?

The semifinals and finals will be on Sunday. Any later and it interferes with the next Skirmish. I'll get it fixed tomorrow.

At this time, no. We would need to reduce the group size by two teams to make it end earlier.

To ensure 2 minutes between battles, it looks like it would need to be at least 14 min between battles...we decided if that was the case we would stay with the normal group stage timing of 15 min.

Same old crapas every other standard battle skirmish.  Find a corner and camp for the draw.

The skirmish will be won by the teams that have enough credits to keep their Pz1Cs loaded with APCR

So the way I see it, 50% of teams will be pure Panzer 1 C. About 35% will be all AMX 38s (maybe some D2s) to make the 1Cs gun ineffective (even gold ammo which costs 16k creds per mag). The wise few will have an assortment of those two tanks, maybe three each, as well as 2 high pen TDs that are relatively mobile. I'm thinking the T82 would do nicely (Maybe one with the 57mm and one with the 105mm derp), or possibly the SU-76.

Please, please, please don't do this. Even with draws, we've always had at least a minute to get into the next battle. Plenty of time.

An extra 3 minutes in between fights will make group play last almost 2 hours. Not to mention the quick fights means we could be sitting there for 10-12 minutes. Which is too long (but not long enough to fight a qucik pub match).
