Over the next several weeks, a series of tournaments will be introduced to test different formats for the WGL. All players that participate are requested to provide feedback on the proposed format, to help judge the utility of this format for future WGL seasons.

Players may leave all feedback and discussion before the tournament begins in this thread. At the conclusion of the tournament, we will have a separate thread for post-battle feedback.

Team Captains: Captains are asked to provide screenshots of all 3 pages of the after battle report to tournaments@wargamingamerica.com. Ideally, the screenshots are requested from all players on the team, for all battles.

A 6x tier 8 format with a T2 LT huh? Interesting.

It's a shame you're not going to get much use out of the T2 on those maps though, lol.

What about a Tetrarch instead of T2LT?  Good speed (64 vs 72), same view range, much better radio (545 vs 325).  And with 121 pen can actually pen tier 8's - T2LT can't put out a lot of hurt.

Curious if an SU-18 might actually be usable?  Can pen the top of tier 8's.  Too slow, but interesting?

What about 5 tier 8 and two tier V, like the chafee or the vk 16.02 leopard. Both have view ranges at or near a 13-90, decent camo and a gun that if used correctly can hurt the bigger tanks (not that you would want to slug it out with them).

cruiser 3 has a 320 view range @ tier2

Also i'd like to see a t71 in the place of a 1390 and run a Tier 3 su-26, or pz1c

Why did they add an event to conflict with the Skirmish?

Is that normal?

Radio can be helped with signal boosting on t2 lt giving it at least 400 M range.  That should

be fine enough.  The Tet however has pen on it side.

you should test out 15/150 point tournament format....i mean that is why people play the game.

They've overlapped with every skirmish so far as I've seen.

That is viable if used correctly and depending on the map. They fill the role of the current T1s only with steroid overdose - they can active scout, passive scout and defend themselves, while offering the same cap fast potential. They also can't be one shot killed.

It'd be interesting to see how this line-up works against the 6x T8, 1x T2 line-up. This could be a very successful format if dropping a T8 for two Chaffees is worth it.

Only problem is the Chaffee is getting a very significant nerf in 9.3, with no other T5s viable enough to replace it.

Against 6 tier 8s? A team that runs this line-up will get wrecked.

15 players is a bit much - too many things happening at once. Best you could hope for there is the Classic League format (T10, 90 points).

It might be situational, but the fcmpak40 might be viable with a tier 1.

The view range (400) and pen (126) are quite good for tier 3, but it is so slow.  I think I would rather have a tier 8 and a Tetrarch.

5x8 Plus 2 Chaffee's would be interesting.  Are 2 Chaffee's >= 1 tier 8 + 1 tier 2?

What about other odd combinations of 10 tier points?

Hellcat + SU-85B?

E-25 + Pz IC?

Could try 5x8 1xfv304 1xm5a1 for south side mines as an interesting variant.

Another arty variant.  5 tier 8's, 105 leFH18B2, Chaffee.

The 'Leaf Blower' arty has 8 second reload and full map coverage.  But it is dog slow.

Hey Dance, I believe that WG is getting close to the most interesting format now. Some 'different' tiers and tank combinations are now being considered by various players. What I suggest would make it most appealing for future formats of this nature is to RESTRICT the number of TIER 8s to 5. This is to avoid the 'solution' of 6 tier 8s plus a tier 2. As I see it, that has the same 'problem' as the current format (which uses 2 tier 1s). It involves essentially-useless (except for eyes) low-tier tanks, which when you play them, will not rack up any decent damage.

Bring on the 52-point format, with MAX 5 TIER 8s. Then you will see some creative & effective use of scouts, hellcats, cromwells, etc.

im thinking 5 tier 8s and 2 Chaffees or 2 of some other tier 5 could be dangerous

As long as the Chaffee remains competitive I don't feel forcing a limit of 5 tier 8s is necessary. A team with 5 tier 8s and 2 Chaffees stands a good chance of beating a team with 6 tier 8s and a tier 2. Which option you go for depends on your own choices and skillsets.

Note the Chaffee's 400m view range - much higher view range than the T2 LT and T1 Cunningham.
