Group Stage Standings

Basic Tournament Information for Skirmish 30:

Please see tournament page for all information

  • Team Size: 5 combatants + 3 reserves
  • Map: Winter Himmelsdorf
  • Mode: Encounter
  • Tier Point Limit: 22 points max
  • Tier Limits:
    • This represents the max tier allowed. Teams are allowed to bring lower tiers.
    • Light: Tier 3
    • Medium: Tier 5
    • Heavy: Tier 5
    • TD: Tier 4
    • SPG: Tier 4

Skirmishes now have three days of group play (Monday-Wednesday) followed by a playoff (Friday-Sunday). Teams can choose to play only in the weekend playoff or participate in group play for better seeding and greater prizing.

After completing group play, a standings table will sort all teams across all groups based on points earned against points possible. Prizes are awarded at completion of group play to teams finishing in the top half of the standings. These teams qualify for the Alpha Playoff. All remaining teams qualify for the Bravo Playoff.

Alpha Playoff

  • This playoff consists of the top 50% of group play teams who will play for a larger prize pool. Group play performance will determine playoff seeding.

Bravo Playoff

  • This playoff consists of all remaining teams and includes teams registering solely for the weekend. These teams will compete for a smaller prize pool and the playoff brackets are not seeded.

Both the Alpha & Bravo Playoffs will use multiple brackets holding a maximum of 16 teams. This means multiple winners are awarded prizing for their standing in their respective bracket.

Teams and players may only register once for the skirmish.

Hey Dance!

Is it true that Winter Himmelsdorf got a makeover?

Winter Himmelsdorf has been unseasonably warm recently...thankfully it seems as though the cold weather is finally here!

(and thanks, the image has been corrected)

ReactiveMist - Looking for a team.
I have multiple tier 5's that can be used for this tourney (M4, PZ.4, StuG3). I have some decent stats and I also have TS and can listen in TS. PM me.

You realize the StuG III G variant would get your team disqualified correct and only Tier 4 tank destroyers and artillery maximum are allowed also only lights of tier 3

What happens if you submit your team later then Sunday, but still in the awaiting approval stage?

There aren't any teams in pending approval now.

I had checked about an hour ago and most teams were (none had been accepted). I'm guessing WG just formed the tournament and accepted all the teams.

Try checking to see if your team was accepted now.

In a perfect world; what would your ideal team be in this skirmish?

I'm not even in this competition but I am eager to learn the logic that the limitations of this and other skirmishes pose to a team captain.

I don't think there is an ideal tank composition.  We generally start with a few select tanks, see what is effective, see what the enemy is using effectively and adjust accordingly.  We usually alter our tank lineup many times before we get to Friday.  That's why I refuse to play Bravo only.  I want to have a good feel for the match ups before the elimination round.

This skirmish we are struggling with the choice between four tier 5's and a 2, or two 5's and three 4's.  Having said that, we will probably find out by the end of group play that three 5's, one 4 and one 3 is the way to go.

As for tanks.  Looks to me that the KV1, KV220, M4's will be most prevalent.  We will probably initially start with KV1, KV220, T-34, and a Sherman, with a tier 2 as early warning in case of a flank attempt.

This will change, probably after the first game we get rolled by a better combination.

Is the Pz IVH any good or is its armor a liabilty?  And thanks for your response.

I'm afraid I can't answer that.  I was never any good with the PzIV.  And we really don't seem to see them very often in Tier 5 Skirmishes.  The Sherman and KV1 seem to be the Derp tanks of choice.  You'll see many KV1's with the 85 also, but the Shermans are almost always the Derper.  IMO

You're welcome.  But it's just my perspective.  I'm sure the better players have their own lineups, and may be significantly different than ours.
