i would be shocked, but i live in the US, where crap like this happens all of the time...

And the things Hollywood does is much worse than ignorance shown by that BBC UK reporter on Japanese animation and culture. They ignore the things being shown on live movies and television programmings.

I also laugh at the part where during the interview here:

http://goboiano.com/...tes-pedophilia/

The reporter says Japan should be like UK. I fine that hilarious that in the goal of being politically correct, and not offensive, authorities allowed a child sexual exploitation scandal to occur from 1997 to 2013!

https://en.wikipedia...itation_scandal

Oh wow. Real children are being hurt, raped, threatened and exploited in the span of nearly a decade! But hey! Lets go after the anime and manga industry and the people who work in it instead. [edited]perfect logic.

Why look inward when you can lash out a strange foreign culture?

(or literally what the US government is doing right now...)

Related to the BBC thing:

The reports show that about 5% of the population are [edited].

South east Asia is still a haven for [edited]and child sex offenders(you do not have to be a [edited]to sexually molest a child by the way) the offenders often do not

offend in their own country due to the strict laws so that guys countries stats are not very precise on how many children are molested when it is just a  boat or plane ride away.

And as for Japan and its low rape rate it is a silent society where things are not spoken of and young girls in school uniforms are harassed every day on trains.

Now this is scary.

Read the whole thing and think about what is really happening in Japan and South east Asia in whole.

While I definitely agree with you, there's no sense in attacking what isn't a problem trying to fix what is.

the problem is that people who put down anime in general probably have not looked at the broad scope of shows available.  there is a wide range of kid friendly to adult shows out there but really how is that any different that western TV?  its just different not better not worse just different and some people just cannot handle different.  look at American cartoons over the last few years.  anyone that says anime has not influenced the north American cartoon industry is in denial or blind

Exactly. It's like looking only at 80's action movies and calling all films too violent.

And for me personally, one of the things that drove me to anime was the decline of Western cartoons. I know there are some modern ones people like bout I couldn't get into any of them, save Avatar/Korra (which is arguably an anime itself, but I digress.)

And Japan has been combating this even to go as far as having separate train cabs for females only. They sure as hell didn't try to blame anime because it really isn't the cause. Everything else related to the sex trade in Asia also has nothing to do with anime. At the end of the day, it is just plain stupidity and ignorance to go after anime/manga than actually tackling the actual problem of real girls being abused and exploited.

isn't it like blaming video games for violence?

Pretty much. I think the same was said about violent movies but I don't think as much.

The irony is the BBC reporter/interviewer telling Japan to be like "us", like the UK in which they allowed the Rotherdam scandal to go on for YEARS. Real children being hurt. Yeah, anime/manga is that cause of that. Pffft.

It is so dangerous in the sense that if it affects 1 guy out of what ever number that live in a fantasy world it is just scary I feel truly sorry for young girls and women

in many countries that it is part of their culture to molest them.

Look at what I posted above on what they do on buses to kids and young girls .

WOW this cartoon is rated TV-14  that is not under 14 years old.

What I am saying is what if some are affected by the sexuality of the shows?

The point of that video is they weren't going after stuff that's even slightly erotic. Like, not even remotely. If you want to find perverted anime and manga its not hard, but using very innocent series as an example just make you look like an idiot. And the argument of "watching molestation acts makes you a molester" is the same, tired BS logic as "Playing violent video games makes you a murderer."

Also, personal tangent:

Spoiler

and what if some are affected by the same thing on north American shows?  so whats your point?  we censor everything in case some idiot does something?  we fill every tv with kittens and get rid of all games with violence because people might get influenced?

the scene you showed I have seen worse watching family guy which is not anime...giggity giggity anyways this has nothing to do with the show being discussed which is not sexualized.  btw if you want family friendly stuff may I recommend you watch nyanko days, or sweetness and lightning.    but you might enjoy eyeshield 21 which is based on football

Something similar to this, but with the Chi-Ha-Tan girls this time:

The two girls to the left, Tamada and Hosomi, are dressed as Kyoto Police and Shinsengumi Police respectively, representing their traditionalist approach to tankery.
The two on the right, captain Nishi and Fukuda, are dressed as modernised Imperial infantry, because they are more open to changing their school's tankery tactics. Which is ridiculous of course, a headlong charge towards the enemy without regard of tactics is the right way! Totsugeki!

And yes, my main source for these uniforms (Shogun 2: Total War: Fall of the Samurai, obviously) may not be the most historically accurate depiction of the Boshin War, but I couldn't find better sources anywhere (even Richard Knötel failed me!). Also I like that game a lot.

I might add a half-assed background in the future. Probably not though, I am still very busy.
