folks it's not cheating nor underhanded if it complies with the rules of the game. some folks may not like it, but it's a lot like arty; it's in the game, so deal with it

Just tossing it out there but if I gave you drawings with hit locations and weak spots diagrammed on my clan forums for each tank as a learning tool when you joined us would it be cheating or training?
Just think about it.
Just think about it.

That is the dumbest thing I could expect someone to say in this kind of argument.
the devs have already indicated it's not a cheat. personally i don't see how they can stop people from using it without removing the ability for people to load whatever skins they want and skinners the ability to test skins while they are being created. they either have to prevent people from using any skins that aren't pre approved and loaded from their end increasing their load and network traffic, or just let it go. so far they've decided to just let it go, so raving against it is as effective as demanding arty be removed from the game.
now if you'd rather i just call you dumb and give you bad rep we can take this to private messages as i doubt anyone else cares enough that we disagree with each other. for what it's worth i don't like it either, but i don't see how it can be fixed without breaking something else. add to that i don't think the skins are that big of an advantage and they look like pewp.

I don't think this is a cheat.
Besides, I don't believe the Devs could disallow it without completely disabling custom, client-side tank skins.
That said, I feel it's a little cheap. Ultimately it's just a visual aid, but a skill-less one.

Haven't seen anyone mention probably the most useful aspect of something like this. Pretty much useless at any sort of range, but real handy for learning your tank's weakspots, and how to protect them.
Definitely going to recommend to any friends I bring onboard, excellent teaching aid imo, especially the B&W version.

What do you do if it pauses on the "Updating Garage" step? Originally I made the mistake of replacing the res folder with just the skins, and understood why it messed up then...but I made a full backup before making the mistake, and rectified it afterward. What I wonder is if I damaged something in the game itself and need to reinstall the client.
EDIT: Nevermind, found my SECOND mistake. Everything's fine now.

Well as long as it's allowed, why doesn't Wargaming make it a mode that can be toggled on/off like the view shake upon getting hit? Or better yet just release the official hit boxes?
Personally I won't use this in game, don't want the game to degenerate into "click-by-colors". However, I sure will use this to know where the weak points are!

The guns in the game aren't lazer boresighted, ie not that accurate. At range the best you could do is aim for either turret or hull. Therefore, if anything the skins are a placebo.

already took mine off didn't help much in truth it made me waste time time trying to aim for something more valuable to hit instead of shooting and reloading.
