I caved and got the Type 64. It is amazingly good. Almost as good, if not better than the E-25.

What do you guys think?

E25, it's completely broken in the hands of a decent player, not to mention limited mm.

Don't get me wrong though, the E25 is also orgasmic. Light tank and TD is a deadly combination.

Another good contender is the SU-122-44.  This tank and I haven't clicked yet, but when I have a good game, its a GOOD game.  I have my reload down to 6.89 seconds.

I love my E-25 however I have heard the SU-122-44 has better DPM (I have not done the math myself, just rumors)

Type 64 is not tier 7. The Type 62 was, but was withdrawn for "game balance" reasons.

I have no tier 7 premiums, but the one I feel is the best, because it would work on any map, even as bottom tier, is the 122-44. An E-25 on say Himmelsdorf vs 8s will probably often struggle.

I love both my SU-122-44 and E 25. I have T23E3 which is also pretty good.

Also, isn't the Type 64 an American tier 6 light tank?

It's true. The SU-122-44 does indeed have better DPM than the E-25 does. Great DPM and the alpha you've come to expect from 122mm guns.

But it also doesn't possess preferential matchmaking, less mobility than the E 25, less camo than the E 25, larger profile than the E 25 and the difference in DPM is actually quite small.

About two months ago I would have said the M10, but now I am going with the E-25.

Practically speaking, Type 64 is a Tier VII. It sees tier VII through IX matches like a tier VII does. Therefore, Tier VII.

Tier VI in name only.

They are similar if I remember correctly, but the E25 doesn't see tier 9s.

Chinese in WOT.

Taiwanese in RL, made from US tank parts (M41 hull and Hellcat turret).

This the thread where people say the middle of the pack E-25 is OP (while not doing real well in it), but the class leading forever 122-44 is not? I am so shocked.

122-44, not only best T7 premium, best T7 TD period by a long shot.

Su-122-44. Incredible dpm matching that of tier 9/10s and alpha. Camo is relatively good and the sloping makes the armor very trollish - Practically no weakspots on the armor. Bullies tier 5/6/7 very well. Speed of a medium with the firepower of a td. I really wish I had this tank :(.

Let's be fair.  The E25 is very small and a little rocket.  Just about anything is going to have worse camo and mobility than the E25.  Nor really a fair comparison.

The reality is that the SU-122-44 is excellent speed and mobility for a TD, and it had a powerful gun with a strong alpha, *IF* is can pen its targets.  At tier 7, the -44 is a beast, and its not bad at tier 8 either.  Against tier 9 targets is get rather dodgy.  It helps to carry decent supply of gold rounds for when you run up against tough targets where you can't get a shot at a weak spot.  However, one of the good things about the -44 is that with its speed and agility, you can often move to get flanking shots pretty easily, and 175 pen is usually more than enough to pen even most tier 9's on their sides and rear.
