I've recently bought all three Tier 6 Soviet heavies and am planning on pushing down the T-150 and KV-1S lines.  So I thought it might be a good idea to get a premium trainer to help speed up the training as well as boost some credits.  With the 50% off sale for the Tier 5 premium Churchill, it looks interesting.  The poll is pretty self-explanatory, but feel free to add any extra details in a reply.

I can recommend it

People complain about penetration issues, but I don't have a problem with it at all. It is definitely worth the money on sale

439 games in mine . It was my 1st ever prem tank and I wouldn't trade it in for a tier 10 if I could.

It's a decent enough tank, and an excellent crew trainer. The speed, while not good, is acceptable most of the time. The armor on the turret is weak enough that most tier 5s will have no trouble going through but it has the highest hp out of the tier 5 heavies. The penetration might seem a bit low, but it's enough to reliably go through anything in tier if you put some effort into going for weak spots.

623 games in mine. I average 711 damage and 900 XP per game. Of all my tanks with over 100 battles, it is the one i which I average the most XP. Yes, the gun is crap, but a shell every 1.89 seconds means you get out 3 crappy shots to every 1 of any other tank. Load some gold and learn to angle it. It is a relatively "noob friendly" tank.

edit: Forgot to mention the crew training. It is great for training Russian heavy crews, and with two Russian heavy lines, it is a must imo.

You're going to find that the Churchill III has a special place in the hearts of the forumites. It is neither weak, nor overpowered, and it fills it's roles of crew trainer, income source, fun all well. That alone should tell you it's worthwhile (I myself would have bought one if not for the KV-5, and my abundance of tier 5 meds with similar guns).

Church 3 is slow like the rest of it's series, but not so bad that it can't be worked with. 2-3 second reload with small alpha but good accuracy. High hitpoints. Acceptable but not life-saving armor and a decent healthpool. DPM is the game, unlike the other heavies that will find their crews in it.

I pretty much feel invincible vs. Tier 5s unless there is a KV-1 I have to fight. It's pen is bad but you can easily use premium rounds and still make money. I used it to train my IS-8 crew and it sure speeds things up...especially on x3-x5 weekends.

Not a bad tank, in the right matches it's a juggernaught. Heavy tier 7 matches, just assume you will die quickly. With the new premium micropatch coming soon that thing'll get even better for training too.

Except that it only sees tier 6 max.

It already has one of, if not THE, highest XP modifiers for prem tanks.  I highly recommend it for training, free XP grinding, and credit grinding.

Faced a KV-1 in my first battle with it.  Pen'ed it every time and owned it.  Learn the weakspots and just put it there every time.

Great, thanks for the info! :great: At less than $5, it does seem like a pretty easy choice given that I'm going down two Russian heavy tank lines.  No wait, it's now only 45% off instead of 50%!  Damn you WG!  Still, I'd welcome any other comments and votes.

Its OK as long as no one shoots you anywhere on the turret..ANYWHERE.... which is the thing thats always sticking out.

So, dont show your turret..and its a good tank.

/sarcasm

Worth it on sale.  Good for platooning.  Great HP pool for Tier 5.  Keep moving so enemies have a harder time aiming at your turret.

maybe the best of the Churchills (for its tier). Can hang with its tier easily, no real strengths aside from its all around ability. Nothing real weaknesses, no real strengths. Solid tank.

What everyone said above... except the part about tier 7.  If you're seeing tier 7s you're doing it wrong.

I like the tank.  Plays a little different from the standard Russian tanks but that's ok, makes a nice change of pace.  Fairly easy to get to grips with and enjoyable.  Would recommend.

Awesome.  Thanks for all the replies!  I bought it and it's a decent tank.  The accuracy is a little dicey, but otherwise I've had pretty good success in it so far.

I would recommend this tank, it is really good. I actually did a review of this tank a while ago, you may want to check it out. It was the first premium I bought, and still in my top three favorites!

Loads of fun, and the hilarity of platooning 3 of them together is awesome, as you can pewpew a tank in no time with focused fire, much to their displeasure.
