since the new patch (great new maps by the way) i've been catching on fire so often that its becoming almost impossible to play.

i appreciate the need for change to the fire mechanics but its getting impossible now.

even the slightest hit triggers fire and from every direction!! full frontal shot and fire!!

don't think i'll be bothered with this game for much longer if this goes on, which is a real shame as i've not enjoyed a game as much in ages.

has anyone else found this to be the case?

and yes i use the fire extinguisher before you ask.

Since the new patch, Ive played 50+ battles and caught fire once, which is about the same as before the patch. The only advice I can give is get your crews to 100%, and then train them in firefighting. Fires can be pretty frustrating, but don't let them ruin the game for ya.

my crews are at 100% and firefighting is now an obvious priority, but if thats what it takes to have a chance then noobs are gonna be sorely disapointed with this game unless they buy gold (which not all of us can afford to do)

and the fact that you're being forced to train firefighting instead of camo for example takes away the element of choice somewhat.

Fire mechanics have not changed.
Since the patch I have set only one or two tanks of on fire (till they were destroyed) and have been set on fire about the same number. That seems about average for me.

on top of that fire fighting skill doesn't stop you catching fire it merely helps you deal with the fire when it starts

i have caught on fire more since the patch as well. could it be certain tanks are more susceptible? this t-20 seems like a roman candle and my easy 8 never caught on fire.

i like to drive mainly german tier 5/6 mediums and i know german tanks are more susceptable to fire.

maybe i'm just going to have to drive russian/american heavies like everyone else now.

Actually.. I have only actually caught fire once since patch... But I set many tanks on fire...to the point where it's almost ridiculous.

I caught 3 tanks on fire in one match yesterday. On mountain pass I shot two KV's across the little lake bed on the opposite road and caught them both on fire with consecutive shots. Both shots were to the upper rear side of them as they were driving perpendicular to me. I then lit another one on fire by shooting it dead center in the rear. Shots were definately about where they should be to hit the engines.

I havn't been lit on fire yet myself but I do seem to be liting other tanks on fire more often. Probably just RNG luck though.

I've caught fire twice in a single round in the span of 30 seconds, once after using a fire extinguisher.

Being at the mercy of the RNG gods is not very comforting.

With the improved extinguishers, I find fires to be fairly trivial unless you actually catch fire twice in one round.

Yes, they have indeed changed. Last night I set 3 people on fire in just a handful matches. In addition, I was set on fire twice and on both occasions, it was as my fuel tanks were hit. If nothing has changed, I am seeing fire all over the place now. Maybe I am an outlier, but I used to very rarely catch someone on fire or be caught on fire in over 1,000 matches. Now, it is happening every 3-4 games I play, either to my targets or me.

I have only caught on fire 2 or 3 times since patch but I have caught alot of others on fire, but yesterday I finally got my T43 unlocked and yes it is stock, but I was backed up to a wall and a easy 8 comes flying by and just shoots me in the front of the tank and instantly Im on fire. I couldn't understand how I get hit directly in the front of my tank and it hits the fuel tank is what is says. But when I have set others on fire I have hit them in the side or rear never in the front. So idk what is up with fire, seems the same to me, but don't understand front hits that hit fuel tank.

But my turrent can take 1 hit so many times since patch and it is stuck or my gun is broke, be 100% and a tank just peeks around a corner real quick shoots and backs up and either turrent or gun is done. And I really do not see any difference in hitting tracks since patch either. I hit a easy 8 in the side 4 times yesterday, and broke his tracks everytime I hit him. I know he was P.O.'ed. Because as soon as they were up Ihad just reloaded to be able to shoot and I was not zoomed in, just had his tank high lighted and would shot.

Apparently some of the tanks have a fuel tank in the front as well. I think it was the Russian dev Q&A that covered it.

I think their excuse was that the German tanks had a couple leters of flamable transmission fluid or something

more fire is a good thing.  adds just a touch more realism which is nice.  Even if it happens to me.  Seeing a lotta flaming tanks running around always brings a smile :)

No, that counts as Engine. We're talking about Fuel Tanks.

Fires in tanks, ships, airplanes and any enclosed vehicle have always been a serious situation that is often leathal.  Why not let this game incorporate that into the play?  It adds a little extra chaos to the battlefield and the gameplay which is cool imo.  Spend the $3k credits on an extinguisher and roll out to the battlefield and lite some foolz up!.  It's fun stuff! =)

One thing i would like to know is if there is anything we can do once we catch fire... Does stopping help our crew fight it or it's just a random chance it will be put out regardless of what we do? I know about the fire extinguishers, i just rarely carry any because of the price...
