Hi, I have a few questions.

First of all, is there a tipping point, where, after having risen through the tiers, you start losing money more often instead of making money? Do you have to play, for example, tanks from tiers 5 and 6 to fund running your tier 9 tanks ?

Second, if there is no such tipping point, does rising through the tiers actually involve simply upping the stakes? As in, at higher tiers, do you run the risk of losing a lot more credits, compared to lower tiers ?

Thanks much

Yes the game is designed so that you need to have lower tier tanks to fund your high tier tanks.

yes to both

i find tier 5 to be good at money making, and in my t29 if i have an exceptionally crappy run i can lose credits, but the chance to lose creds doesnt really start until around 8/9 i think

I agree looking at the money I earn in my T29 I think I would still be making credits even if I didn't have premium.

The main break off point is T8.  You can still make money there, but it is much less.  You are also prone to love money on bad to moderate losses.

Over half the time when I play my Tier 8 M6A2E1 I loose around 1K to 4K in Credits (after Credit minus Repairs & Ammo). But if my team win and I got 2 Kills or more I would make from 10K to 30K in Credits. So in the long run if I play a patience game I make Credits. Almost all of the time I make Credits with my tier 2 BT2 tank and tier 4 T28 tank but it's range from 1K to 10K max.

My IS-3 (tier 8)  and  IS-4 (tier 9)  would lose a little bit of credits on a loss when I first got them.

Totally upgraded, they don't lose credits anymore.  The worst my IS-4 does now is break even on a real bad game.  Good games I'll get over 50K credits every time (minus the 12k or so in ammo).

This is with premium though, will be less with just free-to-play.

As you move up the tiers what hurts is repair costs and ammo.   My IS-4 totally knocked out with module damage is like 16-17K to repair.  My shells are something like 1200 a piece.  So if I get knocked out, I need 25K minimum usually to break even.   My accuracy is good though and if I shot 10+ shells, I'll make those credits easy.

seems like T7 for heavy for me. Make about 5k a match. but I also use 8k-11k and consumables, 12k on ammo, 12k repairs or so maybe.

So this will prolly be the last tier for me. Unless I get a lowe.

At the higher tiers, you really need to adapt to the tank more. A failure isn't so easy to 'shrug off' as it would have been at tier 5.

Answer: Tier 8 and up and yes you will need tanks to feed your higher tiers premium alone will only break you even.

Answer: Oh yes....it can be very expensive if your not taking it seriously.  Ammo, repairs, consumables...Oh yeah.
Example: IS7 costs up to 25,000 to repair, around $1,200 a shell, and up to 500,000 for rammers and such.
