The Story So Far, as related by The Empress.
The Book of Comfort: Chapter 7, verses 1-127: The destruction of the First Temple. The appointment of Chieftain. The building of the second temple.
...And arguments abounded in those days, with vile and petty insults being traded amongst those who had once been a united people. The agitators and Nephilim brought discomfort to the followers of Madokami, and the spirit of the Russian lord spread discontent through the population. And Madokami saw that the wickedness and the hate spreading across her people, and that the thoughts of their hearts were of how to hurt their brothers. And Madokami was sorry that she had made the American tanks, for they had brought about so much suffering, and it grieved her heart.
So Madokami said, "I will destroy the congregation that Worship the T110's Armor, for I am sorry that my creations had brought them together. I shall shatter the temple they have created to honor the T110 and scatter the remains to the four winds."
But one person amongst the multitude found favor in Madokami's sight. A man of towering stature, his eyes shown like the mid-day sun and upon his head rested a crown of leather. He was a prophet from the land of Hibernia, and his intervention had ended many of the arguments. His name was strange on the tongues of the congregation, for it was a name of Hibernia. He was known to the people as Chieftain, and his mighty voice brought calm to the turmoil of the congregation.
And Madokami said unto Chieftain "I have determined to lay waste unto the congregation and shatter the temple they have erected, for suffering and discontent spread through them. They attack and hurt each other, and bring sadness to my heart. You alone among the multitude have proven yourself to be a righteous man, for you have not attacked and harmed your brothers. As you are a righteous man, blameless in the cataclysm that has overtaken the Congregation, I shall spare you."
And Chieftain was sad that Madokami would destroy the people that had come together to worship her and celebrate her creations. Chieftain pleaded with Madokami, saying unto her "Please spare the congregation of T110's armor, for they are a good people. They are but children and do not know the harm they do." And Madokami's heart was warmed by Chieftain's earnest plea for the salvation of the Congregation. She said unto Chieftain "You have truly shown yourself to be a rightous man. I shall do as you ask and spare the Congregation. However, I shall still destroy the temple that the congregation has made unto the T110. The Temple has grown beyond its limits, and the foul vestigates of past arguments corrupt the air. What began as a monument to harmony has grown into a bloated and twisted Alter of misery."
And Chieftain was dismayed that Madokami would destroy the temple, and said unto her "Please, spare unto us our temple. We have worked for many years to raise the temple in exaltation of your works." But Madokami closed her heart to his pleas, and said unto Chieftain "I have spared the congregation as you have asked, but I shall not spare your temple. I shall shatter the cornerstones and crush the alter, and scatter the remains of the temple to the four winds. This shall be a lesson unto the Congregation and the punishment I shall exact for their sins. However, I shall guide you to a Promised Land free of taint and blemish, whereupon you shall build a new temple."
And Madokami told Chieftain to gather the Congregation. Chieftain called the Congregation together from far and wide, and told them what Madokami revealed to him. And the Congregation wailed and beat their chest in grief. They cried out "How can we continue, when our mighty temple is to be scattered to the four winds? As our temple scatters, so shall our congregation scatter and be lost." And Chieftain said unto the Congregation, "I say unto you, our Congregation shall not scatter and be lost. We shall undertake a pilgrimage to a promised land free of taint and blemish. We shall build a temple there that will be greater and more fitting for the worship of Madokami and T110." And the Congregation cried "How shall we find this promised land? What map do we have that shows the way?" And Chieftain said unto the Congregation "Behold! In the sky lies the sigil of Madokami. With this sigil she points the way to the promised land. We shall follow the sigil as it travels across the heavens, and Madokami will deliver us to the promised land."
And so it came to be. Chieftain lead the congregation away from the temple. As the congregation followed the Sigil of Madokami, a deafening roar like that of a lion came from behind. As one the Congregation turned and watched as the cornerstone of the temple was shattered, the alter was crushed, and its remains scattered to the four winds. As the Congregation mourned the sight of their temple's destruction, Chieftain preached Madokami's will unto the populace. "Behold, the consequences of your actions. The temple that you built with wickedness in your heart has been destroyed. Remember this day, and reflect upon it when your heart again turns to wickedness and you wish to harm your brother." The congregation followed the Sigil of Madokami as it led them towards the Promised Land. They crossed sea and desert, mountain and jungle. Several members of the congregation strayed from the path and were lost, but with Chieftain to lead them and the Sigil to guide them, the Congregation of T110's Armor arrived in the Promised Land.
As the congregation settled in the Promised Land, Madokami spoke unto Chieftain. "Chieftain, you are truly blessed among men, for you were able to lead the Congregation of T110's Armor across sea and desert, mountain and jungle. The Congregation trusts in your righteousness and fairness. Your pleas to save your brothers warmed my heart and saved me from making an irreversible mistake. As recompense for the services you have done unto me, I shall give unto you my blessing and my trust in the governing of the Congregation of T110's Armor. You shall be the final arbitrator for the Congregation. When brother again fights brother and arguments arise in the temple, you shall bring justice unto those wronged and banish those who do wrong from the holy grounds of the temple. However, you are to show mercy to those who do wrong. If they earnestly repent their actions, you shall allow them to rejoin the temple."
And the Congregation, with Chieftain to lead them, did spread across the Promised Land. There they built the second temple to glorify and exalt the name of Madokami and her creations. And Madokami looked upon their works, and saw that it was good.
