Hello everyone, new player here,

I have been at this for two straight days. I just got my new laptop a while ago from newegg and it came with a free intel software starter pack. This starter pack came with WoT. I have always wanted to play it and was excited to finally get it; however, once I installed it and pressed the play button, all that came up was a white screen that closed a second later. Thinking it was jut a bug, I tried again. Yet again, nada. So I decided to re-install it. Same exact thing. I have re-installed it over 5 times, tried the -integrity thing, and tried updating my gpu and cpu drivers. Still noting. Being a new player, I have zero idea as to what I am doing which is why I am finally coming here. Probably should have done this a while ago. Thank you for all of your guy's help!

My laptop is a lenovo Y50

Specs:

Intel core i5-4200H

Nvidia gtx 860m

8 GB DDR3 RAM

Windows 8.1 64-bit

Are you trying it from the Launcher.exe or the Worldoftanks.exe?

Have you tried downloading the whole game from the website instead of using the starter pack?

Install the Micrsoft C++ Redistributable.

dont just rerun the installer, you need to first

uninstall wot from the control panel>programs and features

verify that wot is not present in the program files, if so, physically delete any residual files and folders

reboot

get a new download from wot

right click over the exe selecting 'run as administrator'

test it by right clicking over the desktop icon, selecting 'run as administrator'

if it runs, then play it a bit before installing any mods

if it does not work, then log in a support ticket with wot

I have tried both to no avail. Both times they come up with that white screen and disappeared

I have tried the administrator trick too. It seems as if I must send in a ticket

Haven't heard of this trick yet, am I supposed to just download it, re-install WoT, and try to play, or is there another step n there too?

Another thing you could try - because it almost sounds to me like it's trying to run in a non-native resolution somehow is; Go to your searchbar, type in % Appdata % without the spaces, this will show you the roaming folder. Open it. Then open the wargaming.net folder and completely delete the world of tanks folder. This folder can be deleted at any time without detriment to your game. Everytime you launch the game it will re-create this folder if it isn't there. I suggest deleting it and trying again, because this is where your settings for WoT are stored (grahpics, etc). If for some reason it is trying to run in a resolution that is funky, this will force it to run in the default for a "first bootup".

Oh, sorry. Just install the package and attempt to run WoT again. I have to do this on all of my computers when I first install it.

I just got a Lenovo y50 as well and I'm experiencing the same exact issue. I also found someone else with a Lenovo with same exact issue. this is what he said worked for him......

"First of all, do you have the NVidia Drivers installed? If no, delete WoT and install the NVidia Drivers. Then  install WoT again. If yes, remove all NVidia drivers and WoT. Then reïnstall the drivers and then WoT.

Also try running WoT as an admin while installing"

It didn't work for me. maybe it will work for you. Since we all have Lenovo laptops im going to keep at it with them as well. Let me know if this works for you or if you resolve this some other way. World of tanks is the only online game I tried to play. Are you having problems with any other games?

I think I found the problem but I don't know how to fix it. I sent a ticket up and waiting on a response. I don't have the "python.log" in my WOT folder. On a previous ticket the specialist asked for that file but it wasn't in my wot folder.

There was nothing in %appdata% that had to do with wargaming so I was unable to try this

Well after a bit of searching it seems to me that I also do not have the python.log, so hopefully that's the prolem

Glad to know I'm not the only one having his problem. Hopefully someone will figure out a way to fix this. I tried it and it came up with the same thing, and at the moment I have only played minecraft and a little runescape, and they both worked perfect. I have yet to play anything more demanding than those, but should in the next few days. I hope that they will be able to work. Thanks for the suggestion and good luck to you for finding  fix to this problem.
