Ran this trace from my laptop, only connection difference is my desktop is cabled to the Modem rather than wireless. I've been noticing a vast increase in lag spikes and a lot of packet drops (random movement). Now obviously WG will say "it's not us, it's you" as many developers and game companies are want to do but with som many people saying they were having trouble they should really be looking at their connection. Add to that the recent spate of server restarts... no real explanation's there simply that they are happening....... Last game I played last night was on Prokorovka and no word of a lie EVERY PLAYER said they were experiencing lag, tanks sliding all over the place perfect shots missing by a country mile etc. Arty seems to be struggling with it even more, I use the server reticule in addition to my own when I have my arty and it's anything upto a few seconds waiting for the server reticule to zero after my sight reticule is in.
I'm not ready to rage quit over the lag but it's time for WG to step up and start giving something back to the players.
Roger that, Big_Boo.
Here's a new one for the developers to research - if anyone is still watching the thread:
Have a desktop model with 3ghz processer (yes - single processor), 1+gb vid card and only 3gb memory. it ran really nice on a connection that was getting 15mb/s + internet speed. (fiber optic to the curb) before the 7.last upgrades.
First few moments in the game are great. Then it lags WAY down to the point that it's unplayable. Have to quit it's soooo bad.
I can connect with my dual processor laptop with 8gb memory - lesser vid card - to the same modem and get good access and no lag. Speed in game runs about 25fps. Though it seems buggy at times, it runs adequate.
Since the internet connection can be ruled out, to me it's possibly either the 3gb memory or the lack of a dual processor machine.
Thought:
If the game has become such a "Packet Consumer" that it precludes single prcessor machines from running adequately on it, we've out 'teched' ourselves with the complexity of the game program. I would gamble to say that the majority of gamers out there don't have dual processor machines in their hands - nor can they afford to spend some $4g's for a killer machine to run good on the WoT game.
Suggestion:
Keep the game simple enough so that good solid robust machines can keep up with the gameplay. I know everyone wants the realism and super graphics, but if it compromises the gameplay, then it's not helping.
No criticism - just suggestion - maybe we can get the lag solved.
Keeping my hopes up.
Thanks for listening.
