i have windows 10, and I don't know what to do or how to play the replay. I dragged it onto the world of tanks shortcut file, and it said open with World of tanks. I did that, and it just loaded up the game regularly. plz help!

To watch replays I open up: local disk D:--> games-->World of Tanks-->replays and then click on the replay I want to watch.  Works for me!

You need to "OPEN WITH" then sort through your files to where the older version .exe file is and open it with that.

I am trying to find a player that will play the replays. Every time i try to play the replays, a message pops up saying that windows media player cannot play the file. so what player can play the files?

If you read the OP at all, you'd know that the replay files are not video files, so there's no reason why they'd play in anything other than the WoT client itself.

As an addendum to the OP, I just figured out how to launch replays from the command line. It's decidedly non-obvious. Windows doesn't help you figure out how file associations are set up, you actually have to go into the Registry (ewww!) to sort out how it works.

In Windows 10 the key is:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wotreplay\shell\open\command

and the value is:

"C:\Games\World_of_Tanks\WorldOfTanks.exe" "%1"

What took me a while to figure out is that the %1 is the full path to the file in question. So the general pattern is:

C:\Games\World_of_Tanks\WorldOfTanks.exe C:\full\path\to\file.wotreplay

An example:

C:\Games\World_of_Tanks\WorldOfTanks.exe C:\Users\bob\Desktop\14798352452349_ussr_R07_T-34-85_el_hallouf.wotreplay

I know this may not be useful to most of you, but for those who are trying to do clever things like run WoT on Linux or a Mac (or fix Windows or WoT brokenness) I hope this helps. I suffered for this knowledge and I give it freely so that others may not suffer. :)

I appreciate this thread a lot, I have been trying to play my replays for two months. Now I finally know how. Thanks so much!

Okay, thanks for the information.

I can get most of way into this.

I have set it up for "all" replays.

Finding the file and dragging it, and activating the WOT program. It starts and then loads the file.

The proper map loads, and I can hear the battle, but there are no tanks, and my view does not move.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Also , when I do get it going, how can I edit the file to cut out portions?

exactly my problem too.  I see the opening scene with my tank sitting there then it flashes to the  generic map picture/intro/overview screen but I can hear the battle start and run...  just can't see the damn thing!

Now replays are broken from the end of March so for those of us less computer savvy, how would I view the match?

You would think that someone would have figured out by now how to make a replay player...

Is there any easier way to do this for people with slow internet connection? :p It's such a pain in the [edited]to download gigabyte downloads just to watch a single replay when you're lucky to get 500kbps at best. Is there a way to upload these old replays to youtube or something and view them that way? Would still probably be faster than downloading these clients for me.

inb4 get faster internet. Live in middle of rural nowhere. Not getting any better unfortunately :/

Nope, no other way. Except to have someone send you a CD with the clients on it.

I downloaded the proper version from the site and started it up but it is the EU client, I'm NA and so when it loads it just tries to connect for eternity. Is there anyway to get an older WOT version that is the NA client?

It doesn't actually matter, because replays aren't region-specific.

Yes, you are right, I can open my replay (NA) in an EU client.

However, the problem still remains that to watch a replay you have to connect to one of the servers, and since I am an NA player and I'm using and EU client I can't connect to one of the servers (I left the client running for 45 minutes after 'logging in' and it still said 'connecting' after all that time). So I'm still at a loss for what to do.

Edit: I made an EU account and used those credentials to sign onto the EU client to see if that worked, same problem as above, still can't connect to the servers.
