Goodie, finally we'll be seeing whether what some have been complaining about is valid!

WTH was its intended role? The gun sounds rather low velocity for long range conventional combat, and its limited traverse and mere 100mm side armor make me wonder if it could do anything in the RPG era in urban combat... this is just arm chair generalling, of course.

"Settles an old debate"   Translation: Let 50 pages of disputing the measurements begin! O.o

Seriously though please don't.

Can't wait to see the inside of this one.. Also probably asked this before but do the russian logs have some sort of standard measurements? They made a bracket for it and all... Makes me think they have some sort of military standard for logs? A RSL, or Russian Standard Log?

What's with the whooshes at 0:11 and 0:16 or so?

Sounds like their heating system kicking on(for the building), but I'm probably wrong.

Chieftain,

With regards to the log placement- it always struck me as odd that it's above the engine deck vs. more typical mounting on the rear or side. Do you think they put it there as a bench for tank riders? That's what always made sense to me, I'm interested if you know differently.

Thanks

How does M-64 compare to the older ML-20, and what were they trying to accomplish?  Performance sounds a bit higher, and the fume extractor would be nice to have.  Was there a corresponding field gun, or was it supposed to be AFV-only?

Very interesting, I had always assumed that the original 268 had vanished long ago.

I think the video editor forgot to put some graphics in that whoosh.

Great video Chieftain :honoring:

Muzzle velocity for HE and AP was 770m/s and 750m/s respectively, compared to 655m/s and 600m/s of ISU-152.

The gun appears to be tailor-made for 268, and the design philosopy seems to be a 'better ML-20S' with better MV doing both hurling HE shells and tank busting.

Perhaps someone who knows Russian could tell us better than this.

I don't know about modern guns but a muzzle velocity of around 2500 fps doesn't sound too shabby.

Try 1750 m/s for modern sabot round

Full-bore rounds' velocities and Sabot's velocities are not at all comparable.

That's correct but I was giving him that one for comparison since they would both be the armor defeating rounds compared then

Excuse me, but I couldn't watch the entire presentation; it should have been 12 minutes long, but after 8 minutes I sat there while the little wheel kept turning. After 4 minutes (which would have been the 12 minute point) I disconnected. I can watch topics from news shows that last 20 minutes w/o the little reload wheel popping up. Time to change/update the Chieftain's videos.

Thank you for reading this.

It's hit and miss and preferential. You just have to keep changing it till you like what you're seeing.

Before doing that, if your GPU can't display better graphics then a bigger screen is going to make those graphics look worse.

What a shame... The game is turning to kids! :( If U Know about tanks dont play WOT. It was a good game, but now, the videos about tanks is the only thing, because in the game is a big joke.
