Get your teams signed up for this if you don't have a team in the Silver,Bronze or Gold leagues already. This is a great way to give the league format a try or practice for the next season.

If your team is more determined to progress you can also sign up for the Silver/Bronze Qualifier and take a shot to start in the middle of the league system. If you make it we will remove your team for you from this one.

Either way get registered soon the deadlines are approaching.

This tournament might be more appealing if skirmishes didn't give 4x the gold reward for only about 50% more time spent.

Open Cup is four days of group stage battles for 2,500g. Skirmish is three days of group stage battles for 5,000g.

It gets you into the league if you didn't make it in already through Gold quals or Silver/bronze quals. It's not about the gold every time in this game.

Still, it would be nice if wargaming dished out more gold to encourage more of the top players to play and win in the esports format instead of just farming clan wars or skirmishes. Right now being in silver league isn't all that profitable. I don't think it would be unreasonable to double the gold prizes.

I mean they're spending oodles of real life cash on esports, so I don't think it would hurt to pay out some more gold to encourage a broader interest.

Not to mention the top prize used to be way higher: the first Major League season was 200k for first and when we won season 2 the prize was 100k.

For some reason its not quoting the whole thing..

Well i couldnt agree more eith dishing out more gols, but also remember that lead to couple teams farming, it was 100k but 3-6th place teams also had gigher gold prizes and some teams intentionally lost those relegation battles.

I understand adding more gold prizes. But in my opinion solution would be decrease the gold for skirmishes... Remember those old skirmishes? Where you actually had to try to grt 5k gold? Now all you see is people farming every week. I sent a message to admins about it, stating that as long as skirmishes high amounts of gold, leagues will not receive any attention or interest. More people want large amounts of gold in small amount of time or huge commitment like leagues. Also add a little bit more gold to the leagues, they already added type 59 and kv5, might as well add btsv. We all know people spent $100+ for that t3 tank.

And if it is possible, add cash prizes for top 2 teams for silver league. Like $300 or $400 + 10k gold...? Add gold value and real money. It should work. But like i said, thats just how i think.

Well I doubt WG would want to offer cash for silver league. It does sound like a reasonable prize to me, but distributing money involves more paperwork and sounds like an administrative hassle. Probably best to save that for gold league.
And yeah the system should only cater to teams that actually want to make it to gold league. Not sure how to do that best, but yeah.

not only that, but a prize of $300 would be A) more than most teams in gold get paid, and B)$30-40 per person, which is hardly worth it, and much less than the 40k gold you are getting paid for winning (presumably with a type 59 added on for at least one team).

Dance / Yoott

I love this new format but 1 issue that I see with it is based on the group sizes. As of right now the last set of matches start at 2030 PST (2330 EST) and End at almost Midnight for east coasters, this makes it almost impossible for Teens to play and Many adults need to wake up at around 6/7am.

I suggest Either to start the matches 30min earlier or cut the group sizes down by 1 or 2 teams so these can end at a more reasonable time.

Yes Sir there is one, but because it runs so late I had to cook dinner right After. Also I needed to see how everything was being done. I will modify the standings sheet to fit the open cup properly.

Here are the unofficial standings For Open Cup Stage 1.

Well they wont read the disputes til Tuesday about 8am PST and they will normally be resolved in a few mins. after that.

So I take it that a team brought 6 tier 8s only?

Need some input fellow Open Cup Players.

I created this spreadsheet to track the Overall Standings for the Open Cup. Need input if you all need more/less info, changes and just what you think of it.

http://1drv.ms/1z3a7Ff

I am planing on tracking all top 50% Teams that make it to the 3rd and 4th group stages in each Cup Stage for historical reference. Any and all input would be appreciated.

Question Dance

For the Cup Stage 1 Week 2, are the standings combined with Wk 1 (running total) or are they reset to 0 for weeks 3-4 ?
