The Tiger I never used the L/71, it was put on the Tiger II. Incidentally, the Tiger II never used the 105mm guns on it. WG just gave them to it for balance, just like they gave the Tiger I the L/71 for balance.

It never got off the ground so I'm not sure how much it can be referred to as a project.  Still interested to see how the German designers were planning on dealing with the recoil of these guns if the current ones that were installed were hard to deal with.

No it never was, the ring could not handle it.

Spielberger conveys the only issue was modifying the turret interior to fit the gun

It's a 38t/38d RSO based vehicle with the long 88

I might be wrong, but since Steyr was involved, wasn't that based on the RSO rather than the 38(t)?

EDIT: Maybe I'm thinking of another Waffenträger design.

Nah, you're right

My last post was on another computer and I didn't have Panzer Tracts 7-3 on hand

It was planned to be mounted. Historically planned upgrades are usually included in WoT.

Sorry about the necro, but i recal that Chieftain posted a picture of a Tiger (or was it a Tiger P?) with the L71 mounted for tests (the porshe turret was designed to fit it) before. I believe it's burried somewhere in the firing line.

Hmm.. I don't recall such a photograph, you may be mixing me up with someone else. If such a photo was ever posted.

As far as I'm willing to go was that it was planned to put it into the tank after a certain date, but development of Tiger II made that plan redundant.

Pretty sure it was H2, the one with 7,5 cm L/70.

3/4 of the vehicles in this game. Never existed :
1) were dreamt up by someone on the development team at wargaming,
2) were scratches on a piece of paper,
3) were Blueprint models that never saw the light of day,
4) were Blueprint models that had wood production models built
5) were produced and tested 2-4 tanks in total  some saw combat most didn't
6) Were produced and either immediately discontinued or company lost the production bid.

Then probably about a 1/4 of vehicles in this game that actually saw combat through the 30's, 40's, 50's and early 60's. Many of them have improper historical mounted equipment.

It's a video game which wargaming always likes to point out. Historically accurate is a term they like to drag out whenever they need to "NERF" a vehicle completely or  to slightly BUFF it.  Then they bring in the "Game balancing" argument.

Don't forget the drawing in crayon on a napkin found in the town where an engineer once lived.

Everytime that picture is posted, it reminds me that I only have a german language PDF version of Spielbergers Tiger book (the source of the above picture.)  They have a used english language copy at the local hobby store for $39.95.  I have so far resisted spending the money.  Please, stop reminding me of it!

Hey so about that book you should get.

It's a Krupp-Steyr Waffentraeger. It will eventually be added into the game as a tier 7 premium German TD. It uses an 88mm (I think the L/71) gun, has max 20mm of armor, and can reach 35kph. Good gun, OK speed, made of wet paper. Typical Waffentraeger.

Here's some data about it and some more new vehicles (skip to 13:02 for the Waffentraeger):

On the note of the Waffles being fake, that has been proven and known from the start, but I think we know where we got their inspiration.

I'm not even quite sure what this is, but it looks like two 12.8 cm FlaK 40s mounted together for AA purposes, and it highly resembles the Waffle E-100's turret.
