The Stand-To is Wargaming’s new daily tournament (named after WWI’s daily face off against the enemy where soldiers were expected to stand ready on the trench fire step, preparing for attack).

Now it’s your turn to roll into the fray. So gather your friends, grab your favorite tank and defend your base. As a daily tournament, you choose whether you want to Stand-To every day or only once in a while.

All active tournaments can be found by searching the Tournaments Home Page.

I see that Monday's Widepark is STANDARD battle mode.

Are all maps for this Stand To Standard battle mode? Or are any of them Assault or Encounter?

Everything is standard. For the Stand-To's we don't do assault mode and we will say "Mines Encounter" if it were encounter mode :)

I think it was said at the very beginning of this "stand-to" thing that the gold prize wasn't worth the effort.

However, adding kits to the poor prize pool -kits that are given out for basically nothing on weekdays or weekend events and missions- seems a joke. It doesn't even cover up for the ones you use during the tourney. What's next, a free crew member name change or a free emblem?

The Stand-To tournaments are a small time investment (~2 hr max on one day) with a low gold prize. They are designed this way on purpose. Larger gold prizes can be found in the Skirmish and Weekday Warfare tournaments, both of which require a larger time investment.

As for the consumables - that is something new that we decided to test. Players can use them to replace what may have been used during the tournament (and no, they are not intended to replace all consumables used) or they can be sold for credits. Again, this is something that we're testing in addition to the gold - if y'all don't like it, tell me. I will gladly remove them. However, that does not mean that any additional gold will be added, just that the consumables will be removed.

Hmm. I am curious as to how you figure that 'Stand To' isn't 'worth it'?

For a typical team, the gold yield/game is almost exactly the same for Stand To and a traditional Alpha-entry into a tourney.

So, for 90% of players, Stand-Tos yield 16.3 gold/game/member [a very accurate estimate] and Traditional Tournaments (alpha to Sunday) provide a typical yield of 16.4 gold/game/member [probably higher than actual, because I estimate only 5 games/round on FRI, SAT, SUN 1, SUN 2].

For the consistently top 10%, the traditional tournament is likely more profitable, but at greater risk (upsets on Fri-Sun are SOUL CRUSHING to top teams).

71.4 gold/game/member in a Stand to, and about 122.9 gold/game/member in a traditional tournament.

Now, since the very top prizes in the Traditional Tournament are much higher, from Slot Machines to Venture Capitalism, it is the very small number of players who receive the largest rewards, and therefore typical  players will earn much more in Stand-To's per game than in Traditional Tournaments.

So, like most things in life, 90% of the people are better served by one system (Stand To), and 10% by another (traditional tourney).

As a value proposition, both are roughly comparable when viewed in their totality.

As a final note: I am not speaking as to if gold prizing is worthwhile GENERALLY SPEAKING, but only one type of competition to another. Depending on how one measures 'worth' gold-prizing competitions may be of negative value anyway (more on that another day).

Assumptions and Reasoning

Spoiler

Yes! Please be my meat-shield lel

But I am looking for a team... sadly I can't play my Chaffee, Leopard, or ELC... but I do have the Type T-34 (which I am very good in). Here are some stats so you don't need to look them up on WoTlabs or noobmeter with all that hard work (heh):

RE:" I think it was said at the very beginning of this "stand-to" thing that the gold prize wasn't worth the effort."

For the most part I agree. Skirmishes allow you to play for up to 5K gold for 3 days of play at 4.5 hrs in Group stage. The MOST you can expect to win for 3 days of STAND TO's for the same time investment is only 1.5K. The Group Stage for skirmishes pays top 50%, whereas in Stand To's you have to finish 1st or 2nd for a measly 500 or 300 gold. Just making top 50% in Skirmish Group Stage nets you 750 gold minimum.

The discrepancy between Skirmishes and Stand To's for the ease of making gold is HUGE!

I have suggested in the past that a very easy solution would be to improve the gold payouts as follows.

1st place = 1K gold

2nd place = 750

3rd place = 500

4th place = 250

That way Stand To's would pay out to top 50% as do the Skirmishes.

The MAX you can make in skirmishes if you are one of the AMAZING UNICUM teams is 10K gold per week.

The MAX you can currently make in a full week of Stand To's is a measly 3.5K if you are lucky enough to be on the same PRO UNICUM team.

For less experienced and less skilled players, skirmishes can still bring you and your team some decent gold winnings and you still have a shot at gold in the Bravo playoffs if you fail to make Alpha.

However in Stand To's.....FORGET IT!  You have no hope in hell of EVER making top 2 with an equally skilled team.

Therefore STAND TO's are a complete waste of time and credits to the less skilled players and teams, while the higher skilled players and teams are able to reap more gold which they probably already have an abundance of from playing CLAN WARS.

What kills me is these SUPER PRO teams that get put together with the best players from clans like OTTER, VILIN, CHAI, BULBA, SIMP, TTIME etc etc.

Skirmish teams should either be limited to CLAN teams only or totally RANDOM teams that get put together by Wargaming/Egaming, as was the case in the one and only random tourney that took place a few months ago that had teams of 15 players  plus 8 reserves or something like that.

That tourney was the ONLY fair tourney that has occurred that I've ever seen as the players for the teams were randomly selected. PLEASE bring back this format to skirmishes. In fact there could even be a CLAN only tourney grouping to replace the ALPHA and a RANDOM team tourney to replace the BRAVO. Hell you could have CLAN only and RANDOM only teams for both ALPHA and BRAVO and they would never meet each other yet would both get paid out at the same rate. Now THAT would be SUPER FAIR. CLANS could compete against other CLANS and NON-CLAN players could still compete against each other in a FAIR environment.

Another way to improve the gold payouts would be to allow the Team Captain to distribute the gold to his own team's players just as in Clan Wars. The Captain would then be able to give the gold from the players who are NO SHOWS to the players that actually spent credits and PLAYED. Players that NO SHOW and get paid gold for doing nothing needs to be dealt with. There must be a way to do this without the Captain being able to pocket all the gold from all the players in his team.
