Dude, that's not an MBT.

It's a mine-clearing vehicle.

The Leo 2 is widely regarded as the best tank in the world by people that know what they are talking about. But to have this poll and leave out tanks like the Challenger 2 and the Type 10 is idiotic. And as such the poll is invalid.

The Leo 2 is widely regarded as the best tank in the world by this list of cherry picked writers.

The Abrams is widely regarded as the best tank in the world by this list of cherry picked writers.

The T-90 is widely regarded as the best tank in the world by this list of cherry picked writers.

So on and so forth.

Stop saying the Challenger is the best tanks. I know not a single Challenger was post in the war, but that because it never faced an actual CHALLENGE.. It can also be do be do to a good crew. There isn't really an edge when it comes to which tank is the best in the world, at least not big enough to award it with the "Best Tanks In The World" title. Sorry, I might be a bit hard to some, but let's not get carried away. I think people are making their opinion more based on what tank they like or do to patriotism.. Just saying.
TANK YA! Zee WoT I did there? Ah, did it again! xD
Sorry it's my costume xD

The Challenger gets a good pass for being well suited to the current style of warfare

Mainly just having lots and lots of armor thats great for defeating older RPG-7 munitions and IEDs, a good HE shell and more than enough of a powerful gun to cut through monkey model T-55s and T-72s

But for me where the Challenger fails is it being on-par with something like the T-90/M1a2/later leopard 2s (after a4) in something like an all-out feulda gap style war the Challenger would defiantly fall behind

You do realize there's probably gonna be more Challengers in the future, but I you're talking about as of now then yes, it would be out gunned just because of the fact that is so expensive to make and theres only about 300 or less..

About 440 actually, but i see your point. On the other end of the scale you have US Army generals saying that they are running out of parking space for all their Abrams..:p

That's because our "defense" industry vastly outsizes our actual need for "defense".

It's not mothballing, it's pre-emptive scrap stockpiling! You never know when we might need those sweet, sweet copper wires!

LOL well, They made 140 in a year? Cause I checked a year ago  xD but did get my point.

Honestly, Abrams suck, you have an idea about how many tanks were destroyed in Irak alone.. And yet during the war the US was saying they were having minimum losses and so on. Sometimes if you truly wanna know something about your country you need to ask elsewhere. The Abram is a mass of unreliable, technological, titan, tin-can. Well just sayid tin-can to go with it lol it's a big imposing intimidating machine, nothing else. In fact a bunch of guerrillas found out all by them selfs that I you were to hit it on the side close to the back wheel close to the middle, you would completely disable it without even having to destroy it. This was do to a hit on the tanks "Computer", disabling it on the process.

I think the coherence of the above post speaks to the strength of 6sar's argument.

Forgot to mention..

What the guerrillas were doing was make the solders destroy their own tanks, the tank was immobilized so the solders had to destroy it because they had to abandon it.

Because the Iraqi Defense Forces surrendering tanks and modern equipment to a bunch of guys in Toyota Hi-Luxes and used plumbing trucks is the fault of the equipment, right?
