I was looking at the T6 medium tank(predecessor of the M4) although American tanks aren't really my thing and there is an earlier pilot of the T6 than the one mentioned in Hunnicutt.

Aberdeen Proving Ground Photo dated 7th April 1941

Showing a wider turret (with the side open to show thickness) fitted with a dummy 75mm M2 and coaxial 37mm guns. The odd looking cut-out is likely for a vision perisocope

The hull has a 'Matilda' style roll back drivers hatch and two holes for the fitted front machine guns and no bow machine gun.

In the side is an obvious large hatch for side hull entry.

Photo date 7th April 1941; Official Caption "Mockup of Medium Tank T6 showing guns at 50o elevation"

No right side hull access door and the top of the turret shows no cupola has yet been mocked up.

By April 23rd (date of photo number 3) the turret has already been changed more to the known T6 type and a simulated long barrelled gun (the gun next to it is a .50 calibre AA machine gun at 80 degrees)

the hull has also been changed with the more usual bow machine gun although it retains that side hatch.

Hunnicutt has a lot on the later development of the T6 culminating in this quite different affair:

As you can see the T6 here has access doors on both sides.

He says regarding the early T6:

that the job of finishing the production drawing of the M3 was finished on 1st February 1941 when a new directive was received to proceed immediately with the details design of the M3's replacement and that

"A conference at Aberdeen on 18th April 1941 confirmed the new design [T6] with the basic M3 chassis inlcuding lower hull, engine [R975EC2], power train and suspension"

So with those dates is it safe to assume that this very early T6 existing between about 7th April 1941 when the mockup is finished and the 18th April when the design has to have been changed as the approved design ended up looking very different would be called T6E1 is it had ever received an official designation? or do we just go with "Medium Tank T6" even though the later T6 Prototype is so different?

And finally - what's the chances of a new premium given the technical aspects from gun and engine performance down to the radio are known or can be calculated?

Very cool, thank you for sharing!  I think it'd make a cool tier V alternative to the U.S. M4.  That gun(with the exception of that counterweight bolted to the muzzle) in the last photos looks a lot like the M3s hull armament.

I want the one with the 37mm coax!  That could actually be really handy at Tier 5.

I would use it to spam useless HE at gun modules.

I would use it to smack around Tier 3s and Tier 4s while the 75 reloaded.  Because I'm willing to bet the 75 would take forever to load if there was also a usable coax cannon.

I was talking to Life in Black a long time ago about this thing.

I can't decide if it would be better as a marginally OP tier 4 or as a really underwhelming tier 5 [compared to the M4 Improved]

WG won't implement that. They didn't on the 75mm coax on the Maus, they won't do it here.

Empress knows that ...

You should lurk more in The Comfort Thread :)

Is that a guess, an opinion or a source?

Make the T6 a slightly lumbering tier 4 to the Lee's more nippy performance and have the "MTC" as an alternative (stock) hull

As game-fudging goes, that's not a bad idea ...

You asked what it should be called, I gave an idea. Sorry it wasn't good enough for your highness.

It was a reasonable question, you don't have to be like that.

How is it a reasonable question when you literally asked us what we should call it since it's different from the actual T6 medium tank? I saw your question as being petty and unnecessary. And besides, T6 MTC fits in with Wargaming calling the wooden mockup of the T28 the T28 HTC.

Considering how long you've been letting people like rivit and Imperator run roughshod over anybody who even dares question the great and powerful Vollketten, that's awfully rich coming from you.

Just make it a alternate to grinding the M3 Lee.

I personally liked the Lee although thats probably forum heresy.

The idea of calling it T6 MTC isn't a bad one. The name is pretty good but is there proper name for it; an official name?

And if there isn't what would the official be?
