I'll start off with WHY I'm writing this.

I can't count how many near misses I've had with new, and even middle-tier players firing their guns right when the game starts.  I've even been hit by a few of them.  I feel it's time all you recruits learn an important game feature.

First off, you know that pressing a number for an ammo type while in a battle will cause you to load that ammo after you shoot.  That's pretty cool, right?
Well, if you press that number twice, you can immediately reload that ammunition without firing!  Not only will this save you some credits, but it doesn't give away your position, AND you can avoid devastating mishaps like accidentally 1-shotting a teammate while trying to switch to High-Explosive shells. (I really saw this happen once.)

Please, just remember this tip for the next time you want to change your ammo.  You can save someone a lot of annoyance.

It always amazes me how many people didn't know this already. I tell so many every game it seems since beta and still get hit randomly when battle starts to this day, even in high tier matches due to people changing ammo the wasteful way!

Its kinda like how you can hold down the RMB to look around without swinging your turret away from the enemy. I've seen people do a 360 in their turret and were dead before the could face the enemy again.

I cant believe how many Heavy tanks I have seen emptying their guns at the start of the game in the spawn area. Makes me wonder how they ever managed to get into a KV if they have not managed to grasp the simple mechanics of the User Interface. Maybe its kids hopping on Dad`s tank while he is getting another Guinness from the fridge  :(

Sometimes I fire a shot off (with disappointment since thats 1k shell gone and I dont have premium...) at the start of a round because I'm clicking the window to play world of tanks while I finish doing other stuff (I play windowed mode).

I want to see an experiment done, now, rigorously controlled, comparing players who drink different beers (vs. a non-alcoholic drink, split between one group told that it's alcoholic and another group told it's not), and comparing their performance before, during and after drinking.

I do this frequently, I play windowed on a dual monitor setup, my TS, Steam, Facebook, movies, whatever I'm doing on my somtimes gets my attention then back to tanks and BOOM.

I cringe when I hear the fireworks begin the instant the battles starts.  It seems to often mean it's going to be a very short battle  :Smile-izmena:

Excellent idea. Perhaps over the period of a week to make sure results are consistent :Smile-hiding:

Wow, so that is why people fire at the start? to change their ammo... OMG.  I never even thought of that, I just thought they were impatient and acting idiotic.  Well, they are idiots....  :(

I knew if you double clicked a #, the alternate ammo would load, but never knew that hitting it once, the new ammo would load after you shot the currently chambered round. I'll keep that in mind, now! :D

Is that why people are always firing off a round at the start? I figured they were just being stupid.

Same here. I thought that was the only way to reload.   Well that's good to know now.

And at the cost of those rounds, it makes no sense.

Well, usually I start to play sober, as soon as I come home from work.

But than, at some point, my wife calls dinner, and we have a nice bottle of wine together.

So the second half of my play time I'm not sober anymore.

PS: I play better after dinner, if you catch my drift  :Smile_harp:
