We don't know these little details because the developers, like pretty much EVERY online game developer, doesn't bother to put these details in the manual.  Why do they keep this secret?  The manual says nothing about double tapping the ammo key to reload with the new ammo.  They explain the reticle parts, but not how it actually WORKS.  No explanation about your target needs to show as a red outline before you will hit it.  No explanation that a smaller circle means more accuracy.  It is details like this that one has to sift through pages and pages of stickies and posts to learn....and the palyer shouldn't have to do that.

Thanks for the advice, but I already knew this, and I'm still considered a 'noob'.  I figured this out the first time I battled with 2 kinds of ammo, so I'm kind of surprised...  But I'm not calling anyone dumb, cause I guess it's just luck that I figured it out. ;)

For what its worth, you can also CHANGE THE ORDER of the ammo in your hot keys, in the Service screen. This way your preferred ammo is already in the #1 spot and you don't have to change ammo as often. I put the gold ammo (whether or not I have any) in slot 3 this way, so I only have to switch between keys 1 and 2 for reloading. This is especially helpful for those tanks that I want HE as my primary ammo (105mm Hetzer, 75mm Pz3, etc).

To change ammo order, just go to Service screen, left click the ammo in the top spot, and select which ammo you want to replace it with from the drop down menu. Then do the same for the second ammo from the top. When you go back to garage, you will see the ammo has been rearranged as you desired.
