Watched some footage of the development programme for the T48 tank today and I snagged this shot of the design studio:

No3. is the model chosen and appears later to be the model from which the T48 is developed which begs the question of '1' and '2'.

No.3 above and from a later shot

I checked in Hunnicutt's Patton and neither 1 nor 2 seems to match any of the models, or plans of any of the multitide of T48 models or the original plan or the later concept drawing:

Anyone able to provide any insight or information into models 1 and 2?

There's a good chance the other models had nothing to do with the T48 project. It's pretty common in shots like that even today to grab stuff laying around to fill the shot. Like the guys in the background "working" on the M4 model. I'm pretty sure by that point the M4 wasn't an active project anymore.

Model 1 looks like the T48 with the turret facing backwards.  Model 2 looks like the M46/47, again with the turret facing backwards, however the oddity there is that the TC's hatch is on the left side of the turret.

Honestly, it looks like model 3 is being worked on by a wood/clay worker.  The guy handling the model is wearing an apron.
