Don't some of those tanks have smooth bores or am I mistaken and still rifled?

WG... DO IT!!! Add the Israeli tank tree lines on the game.

Nope, no smoothbores at all. All the cannons are rifled.

Thanks to a contact of mine, I've now got some very interesting data to post here in the next few days. In the meantime, here's something I posted elsewhere a few days ago:

In other news, had an interesting thought this morning regarding Israel and M48s. Most people (I would hope) should know by now about the deal with Germany in the mid 1960s for M48A2s. They should also know that Israel had some Magach 3s (M48s with the 750hp AVDS-1790, Allison transmission, and 105mm L7/M68) in 1967 during the Six Days War. Something I discovered recently was that these Magach 3s were not in fact modified by Israel, but were sent to Israel in that configuration already by the US after the deal with Germany became public. Now here's where it gets interesting. In 1964, Germany had tank trials with their Leopard 1 pre-series against an American M60. Israel had representatives at these trials. Now that is interesting by itself, but what makes this extraordinary is that alongside the M60 and pre-series Leopard 1, the Germans also trialed two M48A3s rearmed with the 105mm M68. There was also an M48A4 that appeared in the US around 1966 at Aberdeen too. Now my thought this morning while I was in the shower, was, what if the deal with Germany was just a cover all along for the US to supply Israel with some rearmed M48A3s, or perhaps the deal was sabotaged intentionally to have the same effect? Germany didn't start upgrading their own M48s to use the 105mm L7 until at least a decade later, so I can't imagine those two 105mm armed M48A3s were trialed solely for Germany's benefit.

Thank you for bringing this possible tank line to our attention, also the amount of research that you have complied for us to digest. Hope to see  this new line come into being.....Great job.

Got something interesting to share here. Apparently a Nazisploitation/WIP movie named Achtung! The Desert Tigers, featured several Sherman/FL-10s (the link is entirely safe, just shows the tanks):

Given some of the other equipment seen in the film, I half wonder if it was filmed in Israel, or even Egypt.

I've got a few things I can add, I've just been extremely busy in real life lately. My semester does end soon, so I should have a little bit of time to post more and possibly write a few articles for Rita like I planned to months ago.

The two Cromwells used by Israel are certainly famous, but given we already have a premium Cromwell, I don't think it's really necessary.

I may be nearly a year late, but when I first read the Thread Title I figured this would be a post begging for a new nation's tanks without any accurate information.

I stand completely corrected. You should be proud of the work you have done here, and I am genuinely hoping that Wargaming will one day add an Israeli Tech Tree. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.

p.s. The amount of research you have done is phenomenal. +1

Thank you! I only wish I had the time to work on this more. I've simply been to busy to post much on it, and any Israeli tech tree would probably be 2018 or later if it did happen. So I at least have some time yet.

Not really. There's nothing new from Wargaming (and won't be for some time to be honest, it's looking like no new tech trees before 2018), and I've been busy still, and also start school again soon. However, I did go through some of the stuff I hadn't gotten around to posting yet:

This is the barrel of an M-51, and you can clearly see the name is D-1508, not D-1504 as is almost always claimed. The D-1504 is an earlier 105mm cannon from 1957 that is L/44 in length, and was fitted to the AMX-13 105, this was a new 105mm L/51 cannon developed in 1961. So it's nice to have some confirmation as to the gun's length and name finally. Picture comes courtesy from a friend of mine.

An addition, here's a Spanish Ministry of Defense document talking about modified vehicles, confirming several things. First, it mentions the Israeli 105mm D-1508 as being L/51 in length and being a totally different cannon to the other French 105mm cannons. In addition, it mentions the Israeli modified M47 Patton, as well as an Israeli M-50 offered for export featuring the 75mm CN-75 50 rebored to 90mm like on the French 90mm F3, which is honestly a pretty decent premium tank for Israel. Or if not, could allow for the M-50 to be a tier 6, the M-50-90 a tier 7, and the M-51 as a tier 8. https://dialnet.unirioja.es/descarga/articulo/4770619.pdf

I saw. I corrected him when he posted the Israeli M3 Halftracks with French SS.11s thinking they were Irish.

This.

All of this.

Holy crap, I never knew I wanted to see Israeli armor in a game so badly until tonight.
