News: StratSketch web beta testing has started!

StratSketch is a real time map tactic planning tool for World of Tanks. It is the result of over two years of development, starting with the original desktop version, which led into the new StratSketch web version that is available today. We are currently beta testing the web version and would greatly appreciate any feedback you have, as many user suggestions have made their way into StratSketch in the past.

StratSketch is designed to be simple, nice looking, easy to use, and most importantly, an useful resource for your clan.

https://stratsketch.com

Why StratSketch?

Map Features:

StratSketch has up-to-date, high resolution maps for all game modes. Bases, capture points, and grid lines are all shown on the map just as they would in-game. Your briefing is not limited to a single map, you can create additional slides with alternate strategies, and present the briefing as an interactive slideshow. Briefings and slides can be copied, making it easy to branch off and create strategies based on other strategies so your team can adapt to various situations.

Editing Tools:

StratSketch has a variety of tools and icons you can use. Each tool has options to change the appearance of the item, such as its color and size, as well as providing useful information. For example, the icon tool shows the number of each type of icon placed, and text can be added to the icons, making it easy to see your team composition. The tracker tool allows you to show the position of your cursor in real-time. Your username will appear on other user's screens, showing them who is presenting.

Briefing Management:

All of your briefings are available in one place. Easily search through them and mark briefings of other users as favorites to save them for later. Each briefing is given a unique ID to protect it, keeping it secret among your team. Members can be designated roles that give them increased permissions over the map, making it easy to allow multiple users to edit while keeping the room under control.

Note: The old desktop version will be discontinued soon after StratSketch web beta ends.

That is one of the only downsides to this currently. We have used it in our own clan and had some others try it out and it has not been a huge problem. A friend said that since most clans require TS, they should all know how to install another application. In this case, it installs without any user interaction, so it is very simple to get started.

Work had begun on the next update! Apparently I overlooked adding sector numbers/letters to the map, so they have been added:

There are quite a few other things I would like to add before releasing this update. I'm going to try and align the update with the 9.7 update to reduce the number of updates I need to push.

Great tool I will try to use it. The demo is great but I have 1 simple request.

I wished I could make the entire thing larger.  We often pick a rock or specific bush to sit in and making the map and control box full screen would help a lot.

Thanks! It seems that is a popular request. Currently the maps are 512x512 to reduce the size of the download, I could use larger maps for better quality at expense of bandwidth. I am thinking about adding a zoom feature instead of larger maps, because it would be easier to implement and I'm not sure how I would implement larger maps, but still showing the rest of the UI (An issue for smaller screens)

EDIT: Actually I will try today to redo the main UI and make it scalable

I think just adding a zoom is all it needs.

I've got zooming and panning implemented. I will probably go with 768x768 maps instead of 512x512, it has enough detail to distinguish bushes/rocks but not so much that the download is huge. Currently trying to figure out how to make tank icons and such not blurry when zoomed in...

when you say the whole clan has to download this, are you saying the whole clan or just the ones who are involved in the briefings?

Only the people who need to view it need to download it. For example, a small group could use it for a tournament just fine.

The server will be down for approx. 15 mins. I accidentally uploaded a new update... Without actually changing the version ID that makes it autoupdate... Whoops!

Sorry for that minor issue! The StratSketch 2.6 update is live!

As requested by others, grid numbers and zooming are now implemented. (Maps are also 1024x1024 when zoomed in!)

Let me know if you have any issues, it seems like update is causing some Anti-Viruses to freak out once again until we get enough downloads.

Awesome!

EDIT: Because I rushed this update there is a small error with the speed of the sector tool, I'll update it when I get a chance tomorrow.

Sorry for all the posts, but it looks like an issue with the autoupdater was overlooked in the 2.6 update, so ironically I have pushed another update that should make it work smoothly. (And also fixes a bug from last night's update). Let me know if you have any issues, hopefully everything is working now.
