So gang thoughts on the T-43 Russian Tier 7 Medium? Tip on how to play?

Don't take me as a primary, because I've only played it a little myself. But my take so far is that it's an incrementally improved T-34/85 that's still decent but not as powerful for its tier as the tier 6 is, mostly due to facing stronger opponents. The tier 6 gets more bounces out of its armor than the tier 7 is likely to do and its gun is stronger against its own tier than the tier 7.

I'll try that.  I have mounted the 76 mm before then switched back to the 90 mm.  I like the alpha damage but the reload is just a bit longer than I'd like.  I worry though about running out of ammo since it doesn't store a lot.  Does that ever concern you?

And as far as tiers go if I ever get a T8 that's about as far as I want to go I think.

The ammo count can be a little bit of a issue in really long carry type games.

Here's what playing the 76mm Hellcat looks like:

Thanks Dun. I just surprised by how well, for me,  I am doing in the T-43. I guess I have just been lucky in my MM so far since I only have 7 games in it. It feels, to me, that Teir 7 is my sweet spot.

Right now tier 7 is also the matchmaker sweet spot in terms of both frequency of seeing top tier and its ability to contribute as a single tank in a match. Most tier 7 tanks are reasonably capable of taking on most others, with the exception of a couple of weak ones (the terribly mediocre French heavy and TD, for instance), as long as you avoid stupid things like dueling a hull down T29. Most tier 7s also have guns that can reasonably pen most tier 8s, and the 3/5/7 means that most of the time they're not facing more than 3 tier 8s since the population balance between 8 and 7 makes two-tier matches with 8s as top less likely.

Tier 8s right now seem to be really suffering from the fact that there are so many that it's easy to put them in mid and bottom tier, and there are so many powerful ones that it's much harder to solo carry in an 8 from mid or bottom tier because you have so many tough enemies to chew through. Don't get me wrong, I like the 3/5/7 format, but the imbalances at tier 8 in relative tank strength and population are creating issues there.

It funny. I had 1 absolute horrible day about a week ago and was just really down on the game. Now I had a few good games and I love the game again.

I have such a love-hate relationship going with WOT!

Yes and if you aren't bi-polar you will be after playing this for a while!

After much suffering, I finally just turned off crew training on one of my premiums and power-ground XP for conversion to get the final gun on the Jagdtiger.

Below are my first two battles with the new gun. Not my best gameplay in the first one, but having a gun that can punch through the nose of a Type 4 Heavy with standard ammo and ignore the sloping of Emil turrets is so much win after the inadequacy of the previous gun. Second match, punishing enemy tanks on Sand River was fun, especially when the tier X heavy was nice enough to give me his side to shoot twice.

Now I just have to grind up to 500k credits so I can equip a rammer.

Up to a first class badge on my last match, though some really bad shots especially against that IS-3. Still, nice balance of damage dealt, damage blocked, and assist damage.

That's about 10-12 battles like that second one. Good stuff there, Dun!

And exactly what the hell was that IS-3 driver thinking trying to get up on top of that hill? That he was gonna shoot DOWN at you. Crazy Ivan thinking IS-3 has gun depression!

BTW, do you have top engine on the Jagdtiger or just a good crew? You seemed to be pulling away from the other guy when you were headed back toward the heavies after killing that last T30.

Top engine, decent driver, and vents....but also I think I chose a better angle than he did, in terms of the ground I was covering giving me a bit of head start.

Unfortunately I didn't get any more battles like those three tonight. Decent win rate, just not so much performance from there on out. I started making more and more mistakes and kept pushing it instead of quitting while I was ahead.

Yeah, it did seem like you were pushing a bit harder in that last battle. Rushing some shots and pushing that IS-3 were, if not really red flags, maybe getting kinda pink. How much does one missed shot cost on that beast?

In any case, congrats on getting the big gun. It looks like great fun punching heavies in the face with that.

The pushing the IS-3 was intentional, but the bad shots weren't. I pushed the IS-3 because the T30 had no shot on me from the left side and the IS-3 was causing problems for the tanks behind me. He also had to be cleared before we could go help the 1 line, and I had doubts as to whether the 1 line would hold long enough. Turned out our 1 line did a great job of holding against superior numbers for a significant length of time, but the IS-3 was pretty much the last protector the T30 had, and eliminating him both opened the door to the T30's rear and to go help the 1 line. I also made a point of doing my initial push to underneath him AFTER the T30 fired because I really respect/fear the T30's gun. That thing hits like a freight train.I did also worry too much about the 1 line enemies possibly firing at my right side, which meant that while I pushed the IS-3, I didn't push him as strongly as I could have. If I had been certain about them not intervening, I could have driven into his face more strongly and not rushed my shots against him as much.
