The last ones:

CallMeBoog and a couple of notable others(I apologize for not noting you specifically), have requested the Leopard 1.

Although I originally started drawing with the intent of matching the Leopard 1 as it is seen in the game (early production model) I incorporated some cool elements I found when searching for reference images for details... the spaced armor on the turret and gun mantlet most obviously. This guide has a lot of images, mostly because I wanted to show you guys the many iterations of me drawing the turret, and failing before I finally got it, and failing even then.

The hull. Very simple and plain actually, a lot of angles, straight faces and geometry. Much basic, very simple, so wow.

Here I incorporated the track guards and got started on the road wheels/front idler/drive sprocket, guides to know where they are placed. I also added some more definition to the hull, mostly for referencing purposes.

You can see now I've pretty much finished the running gear. The tracks, the definition on the road wheels and idler wheel, and the drive sprocket. I'll get to the suspension later, I just wanted to get the running gear done so I can make sure I got the ground clearance and height of the hull right, before starting on the turret.

Here's me starting on my numerous attempts to draw the turret freehand with a glancing reference:

This obviously isn't it... too small and the profile is too sloped towards the back. Looks almost like a widened Tiger II turret.

I decided to try and match it by scale first, and this kinda failed on the end of getting the curves in. It's really hard to shape the curves with the perspective... I tried going off of the lines as you see them here as a rough guide.

It took a lot of time, but I got this far. Which ended up being fairly close to what I settled on for the final image. I decided to slope the back of the turret even more, bulge the back upwards a tad, and make the mantlet more pronounced. The mantlet being so featureless led me to include the other accessories.

Final turret shape.

With only two reference images to add that angled spaced armor on the front of the mantlet, it took a long time to square it up so it looked consistent with both images. I also did some hull details.

Canvas resize, me getting started on the gun.

Gun finished, completing plain image of entire tank!

And here is the finished image, a 1920x1080 wallpaper for your enjoyment. I decorated this tank with my personal insignia, and some small nit-picky details such as the tiny "Unit 104", the "L7A1" written on the gun, and I've also added mudflaps on the rear, behind the drive sprockets, which the Leo didn't really have.

I put quite a bit more effort into this one, so I hope a lot of you enjoyed this one. I know quite a few of you wanted to see the Leopard 1. I may not come out with one tomorrow or for some time, as I have three finals assignments due on Friday, so I'm going to be busy all of tomorrow doing that.

From the requests I've gotten... I think I'll be doing the M46 Patton next, the Hellcat after that(three people have requested this in the past few topics), the E-25, the T110E5, IS-3, AMX 40, and IS-4. The Tiger I colored will be a toughie, I'm still deciding on whether or not to even do it. Any others you guys can think of, or if there's one in this list you'd like pushed to be done sooner, let me know!

Really good along with the rest of your drawings of course! May I ask what you use to draw these? Touchscreen/pen, drawing tablet...?

I started a drawing of the E5 almost 9 months ago... could never finish because it looked nothing like one. >.<

Nice job, well done! :great:

But the Leo has these mudflaps (at least some of them):

I use a Thinkpad X60 Tablet, which is a convertible laptop with a Wacom digitizer behind the screen. I just use Photoshop, with pen on 1 or 2 pixels and full black with full opacity and flow. I draw in a sort of "swishy" manner as others have said... I'll have to see if I can record myself realtime, but I don't have a capture card, and the X60 Tablet's hardware is aged and underpowered... it can't run any screen capture software. I'll have to see what I can do.

lol! Not sure if I can get around to all of those... I will likely have to do the Maus and E100 at some point. And I suppose I'll do a wicked special where I do some crazy super-mutant tank just to satisfy all of you more curious crazies.

Hmm... I'll retract my comment then. Well, I kinda wanted to give the appearance closer to the sloped, metal mudflaps you find on the E-series and the Tiger II, I really like the looks of those. But I suppose this was worthy to point out.

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. Tanks, props, vehicles, environments, and other mechanical and structural entities are very easy for me to draw... but it's far more time consuming for me to draw people/characters. I can get very dissatisfied with what I'm drawing, and I'll end up erasing the whole thing or deleting it in frustration. Such is the fate of about 40-50% of my art. It's a huge drain on time and it's horribly frustrating, but I've found that the more and more you draw, the better your works look. It's a very poor turnaround though... like converting gold into creds.

Sometimes, when i'm bored in french class, I can draw 2 squares that resemble a Maus. I have no clue how you guys manage to do this, but I love it. Keep em comin'!
