Looks like fun, but are you aware that Monday is Memorial Day and people may be otherwise engaged?  Or is that why you're allowing as many bench players as you are combatants this time around?

They should do a tournament like that, a tank from each nation required with no duplicates allowed.

as far as this one goes, you'll probably see american and Russian, and possibly a brit team with an AT2 supported by a sherman and crusader.

I was reading on the WOT website about this skirmish and saw the thing about the same nation, but I also saw on this website ( http://worldoftanks.com/uc/tournaments/1269-Skirmish_20/ ) that there are no duplicate tanks allowed. Does that mean that I could not start a team and have more than one Churchill III in it? I am asking because I was planning on doing this and did not want to get technically defeated for a rule that I did not understand.

Thanks to whoever answers this,

Stone.

Correct, you need three different tanks from one nation.

So, China and Japan are out due to not having enough tier 5s. France can go join them since their tier 5s are just super lackluster - a BDR, G1R and S35CA lineup isn't beating anyone. Britain could do Excelsior, Churchill and some other tank but that's just worse than Russia. Germany's tier 5s are sketchy - The T-25 is good, the Leopard is adequate but much worse than the Chaffee, the VK3001H is pretty bad, and the mediums and TDs are unimpressive.

That leaves US and USSR tanks. USSR can do KV-1, KV-1S, and Church 3 and just hope to beat the enemy on HP/DPM. They don't get anything with reasonable view range though. The US tree gets the Chaffee, T67, and M7/Ram/T1HT depending on if you need another fast scout, a medium with good HP, or a medium-heavy with good HP. I'm reasonably certain the USSR tanks can't safely CAPFAST without a US team being able to surround and murder you from multiple angles, but that would be a lot of effort on the US team's part and with one wrong move the game kind of ends. Any nation besides US or USSR is an incorrect choice.

Thanks a lot for that  information. I was debating between USSR and Brittan because the friends I was going to invite all have Churchill III's and Churchill I's. However that stipulation certainly throws a wrench into those plans. I am still going to have to decide what nation but I am leaning towards Russian. Is a Churchill III, KV 1S, and a KV 1 a good line up? Those are the only Russian tanks that all 3 of us have. Any suggestions?

The Churchill 1 is worse than the Churchill 3 by quite a bit. The KV-1 and KV-1S are better than the Churchill 3, and therefore much better than the Churchill 1. The KV-1/KV-1S/Church3 team seems good, you just need to recognize that you have no view range so you cannot fight at range without being murdered. You just need to move onto the cap (since it is encounter) and try to force a close-quarters brawl. It'll be difficult to win against a perfectly played enemy team if they can bounce your turrets around from multiple angles, but if the enemy makes mistakes or tries to brawl your tanks should win the game for you.

Ok I just had one more question. I was thinking about doing the weekend tournament because I have plans for Memorial Day. Is the weekend tournament any different from the weekday one besides the fact that is takes less time? Are there like less prizes or something? If I choose to do the Weekend would I have to be available or is it the same time?

The weekend tournament is a 16-team first-to-three single-elimination bracket.  The battle times and format are the same as the Alpha playoffs, but you're playing for a substantially smaller (2.5k for winning it all) prize pool in exchange for the significantly shorter time commitment.

Ok. I just found out that my friends all have American tier 5's so I think that I am going in that direction. I have two choices and I would like to know which one is better. We could have a team with a chaffee, m7, and t 67. The other option was that we could have my two friends go in either the m7, chaffee, or t67, while I grind in the next few days for the American tier 5 heavy. What do you think is the best option?

So in a nutshell, no asian tanks.

In protest, I'll bring a Chi-Nu Kai, Chi-Nu and a Ke-Ho.

Planning to do the weekend portion.

I actually think the French set up could work. We're going to test it out in S-F and see how it fares against US and Russian lineups. The French have alpha and pen (especially when firing pure APCR out of the S 35 CA, getting the 105's bonus damage with the premium shell), and the G1R's side skirts allow for nice sidescraping. This is a tight area for the encounter, so it would seem that alpha may have the advantage. Best alpha: Russian or French. Will be neat to try the lineups in our practice sessions.

I would say USSR would be best with KV1s with 85mm, T-34 with 57mm, KV1 with 57mm. Use the T34 to forward spot and flank, and the other 2 blast the heck out of what you spot. It kind of solves the view range issue by adding that T-34

I could not agree more. I believe most of the lineups will be this type of make up.

If anyone has some open spots I'm looking to join. I've been in a few skirmishes this year and have always at least earned some bit of gold. Stats bellow, I can get any t5 tank needed since they're all researched.
