I have a crap video card, and, basically, the game runs slowly at best, and I cant see the ground. Im going to be buying a videocard, and I was thinking this:

Anyone know if this would work as a videocard to run WoT?

It wont be good, its very low end. Try and get a Geforce 430 or ATi HD6670 instead

Ummm... ok... funny but I run an Nvidia Geforce 210 w/1gig... 1000+ games and no problems with it...

I'd say run with it... even without the "rebate" listed it's a great price for it... don't neglect your Computers RAM either... if that's low up that after you up your video card...

may I highly recomend the 9800 GT minimum? I actually had one before my all powerful Gigabyte 560 ti.

It'll run the game, if that's what you're asking.  But it won't do much else and will probably become obsolete quite quickly.

What resolution are you running at? I can't make a recommendation without knowing that.

9500 gt worked well for me before I got my new computer.

What about other specs IE CPu, Ram? A new video card might solve some of the issues but create others Via bottlenecking of the CPU.

everything in my computer passed in the "can your computer run WoT" thing in this same form, EXCEPT the video card. thats all I need to upgrade, and it should run fine, if not better then fine. I figured 25 dollars, it will work just fine. Thanks for all the feedback, im looking at each card.

It's only 24.99 because of the rebates.


1gb Ram 475/1400 Mhz isn't bad, but it's not top end either.


I haven't ever personally used this card, and I typically stick to EVGA because I OC and the warranty.


Can't beat that price, but don't expect MAX settings Crysis 2 100 FPS

Faded, that card is a low end card (literally the bottom of the pile card) that's 2 generations old. 1 GB of VRAM is completely irrelevant... high amounts of video ram is only useful when pushing large resolutions (which this card can't handle). They put so much ram on the low end cards to fool people into thinking that more RAM = better card. Clock speed doesn't mean anything either when its Instructions Per Cycle (IPC) is really low. A GTX 285 at the same clock speed would destroy this card for instance.

In all fairness though, it's a heavily discounted budget card. $25 is quite cheap. If his/her resolution's 1280x720 or lower, he's probably fine, but even 1280x720 is a stretch.

A Pentium III probably wouldn't bottleneck this card. I wouldn't be worried about bottlenecks here. If he's considering buying a graphics card this low end, I'd assume his GPU is the bottleneck anyways. But, yes, it'd be nice to see the OP's specs.

Ive been running knock off cards from tigerdirect for years. Never had a problem with them. At that price, buy 2 in case one craps out?

It's ask-a-stupid-question time: sure you can upgrade a desktop ten ways to Christmas, but can you upgrade a laptop's video?

Edit: if you ever shop for a laptop and want to play games, don't go for the Inspiron 1545; all the GPU options are hardwired and there are no suitable expansion slots.
EditII: systemrequirementslab.com offers me "gaming laptops" starting at $1250 - for that price (labor included) I could build you a fairly awesome gaming desktop that would far outstrip the laptop's specs, although of course it wouldn't be as portable.

That card will run the game. I already said don't expect max settings 100 FPS.

I wouldn't personally use the card, as I said, but it will run the game, yes.


Money is an issue for some, others it's not..

SLI and RAID are yet to be determined.

The whole platform is a beast.

It will run anything out there for more than a few years.

Some can, but 99% of laptops have a GPU that is integral to the motherboard. On a side note, my Alienware gaming laptop is still buzzing along with a 256gb GPU, built in '06 and still running Windows XP   . It was expensive but I feel it was well worth the cost.

It'll be "unplayable" (< 20 FPS), depending on resolution and whatever other hardware the OP has.

The main bottleneck on my computer is the GPU and mine (9600M GT) is a fair bit stronger than what was listed in the OP...and I don't get ideal FPS (Usually between 20 and 30, sometimes dipping to 10-15).

I'd get something a little higher-end.

How do people say <20 FPS is "unplayabe"? I NEVER get above 15 FPS unless looking straight down, and even then, it's only spikes, and I'm fine with the gameplay. Admittedly, I'd like it better, but it's nowhere NEAR "unplayable". Getting 2 fp/s is unplayable for me, as I have occasionally gotten that low, and you simply can't play.

I pull an average of....6 FPS. I once got it to 12. thats about it.

and I ONLY play WoT. that is the ONLY game I play besides the occasional MW2 and CoD games, for the most part im working most of the time.

Some hardware review sites will claim anything less than 30 FPS as "unplayable." I was being generous by saying < 20. It's all based on your tolerance level. I know plenty of people that play this game at 15 FPS or below, but it'd bug the crap out of me.

Honestly, 20 fps average means at any point there is a GPU intensive moment or model or map area, your FPS will dip down, and that will become unplayable and annoying to say the least. Why make things more difficult for you? A slower running FPS means choppier game play and more likely than not is going to handicap you more than you think. And yes I know perfectly well how it is when you enjoy a game and it only runs at 15-20 fps, and it's the best thing in the world to you. Then you play it on someone else's system and they are running it maxed out resolution, full textures and graphic settings, and then you realize, you're missing half the fun. Then you realize on their faster PC you can aim better, move better, see the enemy position update a little bit more accurately, and all that which your old PC does slower. your friend's PC doesn't slow down to 5 fps if you zoom in and all those things you came to accept with your PC.

That is just an example of what I used to go through.

Just spend a another $50-$60 on a slightly better video card (GT430 is a great price and performance bargain) and ENJOY your game to its best possibility in your budget. Either you run the game consistently, or you handicap yourself and miss out on the finer points of the game. Then when you move on to the next game you'll be right back at upgrading your 210 model card because it was already too slow to begin with... OR you could still have your new game work and be playable because you got a slightly better card from the get go.

Just my opinion of this.
