Hello!
The M4A2E4 (AKA: CBT, CB tank, Sir ROFL) is our reward for the closed beta test. Many have soled it or bad-mouthed it. Many laugh at it. Then again many cant use it .

Tank specs:
Posted Image
Its tree:
Posted Image

Overview:
The M4A2E4, being a premium tank, is better than a stock T5 medium but worse than a fully upgraded T5 medium. It has a premium version of a M3 Lee upgraded gun, has thick and sloped frontal armor but pathetic side and rear armor, is relatively mobile, good radio and view range.

Important: Try not to sell this tank as when the sell tanks feature is here, it might just well cost you a fortune.

Price: Gift
Camouflage: Good

Pros:
-Great frontal armor
-Good rate of fire
-A good bully tank
-Good money-making abilities
-Great when fighting tier 3-6 tanks
-Powerful HE
Cons:
-Bad penetration
-Not that accurate
-Balance hates you… gl & hf killing the King Tiger over there

Designation:
1. Warrior http://wiki.worldoft.../97/Warrior.png 2. Steel Wall http://wiki.worldoft...6/Steelwall.png 3. Confederate http://wiki.worldoft...6/Supporter.png

Crew:
1. Commander   Posted Image
2. Gunner  Posted Image
3. Driver  Posted Image
4. Radio Operator Posted Image
5. Loader Posted Image

I suggest you specialize your crew this way:
1. Repair http://wiki.worldoft...SkillRepair.png
2. Camouflage http://wiki.worldoft...lCamouflage.png
3. Firefighting http://wiki.worldoft...ireFighting.png

Being small and not that hard-hitting i suggest you for camouflage as secondary skill. Fires are very rare anyway.

Modules
Armor scheme of the M4A2E4
Spoiler
Hull:
Greatly armored at the front, but bad at the sides and rear. Most tier 3 tanks (except Murder II), most tier 4 tanks (except Hetzer and SU-85B) and even some tier 5 tanks will have a LOT of trouble dealing damage at the front. Sides and rear are minced-meat.

Suspension:
M4A2E4T42 . Max.capacity: 33.3 (T) / rate of turn 37 deg / sec
Good enough and you can mount some more equipment too.

Engine:
GM 6046 engine . 410 hp / 15% chance of fire / 549 kg
A power to weight ratio of 12.9 is good enough to feel mobile when you have to.

Radio:
Radio Station SCR 508/1.range  650m
Its good almost all the time

Turret:
M4A2E4 D51066
Armor 89/50/50mm
45 deg per sec /
View range of 420m

Good angle and mantlet make this a tough nut for most tanks of the same tier, though sides and rear are pretty much unprotected.

Guns:
Posted Image
Same as the M3 Lee upgraded (unfortunately it isn’t researched for the M3 if you have the Sherman) which is not good… you will have problems killing Hetzers and Leopards and other shermans. PZ4s and T-34s don’t seem too hard. PZ ¾ will bounce a lot. KV if aimed right can be penned easily, so can T1. Arty at tier 4 and less are 1-shotable by the powerful HE shell.

Comparison with it peers
M4A2E4 vs M4 Sherman
The M4 MUCH worse armor. Its shape and thickness just aren't equal to the M4A2E4. Stock M4 is very weak compared to the CBT, but a fully upgraded one has access to the 105 and 76mm guns which are miles better than the M3L. Upgraded it also has as a whole better mobility and acceleration thanks to a superior engine, though when going down-hill you will have the advantage as the M4A2E4 has a little higher top speed.
In short
M4A2E4 is a great ramming tank, better than M4 (i have 1 kamikaze in it)
M4A2E4 is better than stock sherman but is worse against higher tier opponents.
Both make a lot of credits, but CBT does earn more
Usually M4A2E4 wins 1v1 engagements against sherman, no matter the upgrades

M4A2E4 vs PZ IV
The Panzer IV is much weaker when stock, but packs a serious amount of fire power once with the 75L70 or 105 mm gun. The CBT out guns the IV until it has the 75L48, but still has a higher DPM. Both tanks have good armor at this tier, but again the M4A2E4 has better frontal armor.
In short
M4A2E4 is better than stock PZ4 but is worse against higher tier opponents.
Both make a lot of credits, but CBT does earn more
M4A2E4 wins most 1v1 engagements no matter the PZ4 equipment.

M4A2E4 vs T-34
M4AE4 wins 1v1 engagements no matter the upgrades on T-34. T-34 is faster and more accurate with more penetration, but you still have more armor.
In short
M4A2E4 is better than stock T-34 but is worse against higher tier opponents.
Both make a lot of credits, but CBT does earn more
M4A2E4 wins most 1v1 engagements no matter the T-34 equipment.

M4A2E4 vs PZ3/4
Both have about the same armor. PZ3/4 is faster and more maneuverable. Both are good vs smaller tanks, though turret on PZ3/4 is a possible weak-spot
In short:
Both arent really good vs higher tier opponents, though PZ3/4 is a little better when fully upgraded
1v1 its PZ3/4 victory mostly
M4A2E4 is still better at credit making.

Historical M4A2E4 in battle
The M4A2E4 was made to be a lend-lease tank for exportation to other countries like the Soviet Union and Great Britain that used gasoline engines. It also has a very advanced suspension system, that was very difficult to maintain. Only 2 M4A2E4s were ever made. That doesnt stop them from being used in historical battles (check them out, here on the forums) as just of another sherman tank so it does pass. Its great when facing historical PZ4s and can kill a tiger from the side.

Suggestions to the developers:
-Buff accuracy to 0,37
-Buff acceration

Great review! Never got the beta tank cause i didnt join soon enough. When i had my PZ III/IV the M4A2E4 couldnt penetrate the sloped front 60mm armor and the 75 on the III/IV could, so i never had problems with them. Just thought i'd throw that in. But even against tier 6 tanks this thing suck, cause in my Easy 8 i can take one out very quickly with the fully upgraded 76.

Gotta agree about the acceleration. If you could hit it's top speed sooner it would be a lot more useful. In fact acceleration and speed are what makes me love my PzV-IV despite it being saddled with a crappy gun.

This tank allowed me to make as far as I did. It made me enough free exp and credits to skip the A-20.

That said, I hated driving every moment of it and sold it as my garage got more full.

Sadly, it has my highest exp record, along with a respectable W/L of 56% (i think). I dont remember it doing so well.

Big mistake.
My first battle with this tank AFTER the game was released I was fighting PZ5/4 and a single M6A2... I got 5 kills. Got 7 on 12th battle. Its harder now, but i still keep a 54% win ratio in over 300 battles.

I'm not upset or missing it though, already about to hit T4 U.S. to get my Lee into Sherman. I plan on going premium account after I hit the Lee to speed up the process. I have no loss of love for it!

So what tank are you using to grind Creds? The E2 often makes 25k in profit. It rarely makes less than 10.

If you only have T4s and below you tossed a big money maker... for what 200k in credits?

Lee is gonna be miserable, premium or not. You shoulda focused on banking free exp to skip that.

M4 sherman makes almost as much as E4, but its much more enjoyable to play. Selling the E4 just for the sell-cost is a bad deal. It is very handy until T5.

Does anyone else think the E4 feels like it may have gotten a stealth Horsepower boost? My crew has been 100% with vents for a long time and it seems like since patch its more responsive.

A bit more engine power would be nice, definitely. More accuracy would be great!

I'll always keep my M4... thingy. It makes good money, and besides... it was a gift! I don't want to be rude in refusing it.

It's also been a big help, as I'm going up the US line [to get the T34 for when it becomes a Premium as well] and using the 100% crew from it has eased the pain of the early tanks.

If I remember correctly, you needed to have played a certain number of battles to be given this tank. Several thousand battles I think.

You had to be a Beta tester and have 1000 battles before the game release date.

Ez4 did okay. Earned good coin but had that horrible M3Lee gun.  Only just got the M4, and the mobility/firepower difference is quite notable.  I'll sacrifice the front armor for the 105mm HE giggle gun and good mobility.  M4 has a good credit earning capacity as well, and it leads somewhere.

I'm sure DemonicSpoon will be along to berate me any second. :)

Pretty mediocre tank, but I got it for free and haven't sold it since. Made the early credit farm easier for sure. Maybe if I need the slots someday I will get rid of it, but I just haven't felt the need to.

just a little correction. You had to be a closed beta tester (prior to Jan. 21 or something like that). Joining in open beta (after that) would not give you the e4, even if you played a million games. But yes, 1000 battles before release was one of the requirements.

I used mine initially to make lots of credits which allowed me to breeze through the early tiers right after launch. Afterwards, I sold it to free up the slot, since I now have other money making tanks, and with its impotent gun its just not fun to play now that the game is overpopulated by higher tier tanks that it cannot penetrate in battle.

If you started in March you started in Open Beta, whereas to get the tank I think you had to be in Closed Beta (which ended in January) and have 1000 battles.

Perhaps one of its most useful attributes is its ability to train US Medium crews without suffering a loss of training level. It limits you to the US Medium tree for this, but beggars cannot be choosers. Why did they stealth nerf the hit points a while ago? :Smile-hiding:
