Perhaps one of its most useful attributes is its ability to train US Medium crews without suffering a loss of training level. It limits you to the US Medium tree for this, but beggars cannot be choosers. Why did they stealth nerf the hit points a while ago?
I've heard this before, but I'm not sure I understand. So if you move them from the E4 to say a Pershing, and do the 0 cost training they lose nothing?

Na, T-34 with 57mm will destroy A2E4 unless it is fighting up hill. In close range then T-34 can win with stock 76mm with dog fighting. Sniping each other would be more about luck, but it is fair to say A2E4 will need height advantage.

Uhh, I'm pretty sure that even if you are staying in the US medium tree they will go down to 90% of their previous competence level, and thats with paying 20,000 credits per crewman.

Accelerate training is quite poor imo...especially with low damage tank like A2.

If you want an E8 for instance you can create the crew on the E4 with no penalty to their level. This allows you to use the accelerated training function of E4 to advance your crew level more quickly. When you finally get the E8 your crew will be higher level and possibly trained in skills from the outset. Hope that explains the concept a little better.
Still a little confused, if I retrain the crew in it, I lose 10%, but if I put a new crew in train them to the say Pershing instead of the E4, they will gain skill for the Pershing but not lose any skill on the E4?

For example
In your garage you have an M7 crew 100% and a Lee with crew 100%
Take driver of M7 and put it in the Lee. When you mouse over the Driver you will see it reads 100-20 ie 80% trained.
Now take the same driver and put it in the E4. When you mouse over him you see he is still 100% trained.
If you want a Pershing crew, make a crew in barracks with pershing training and put them into the E4.You can then train this crew useing the accelerated training function ready for when you get your Pershing. You can then transfer crew without any detriment. Hope that gobbldygook makes sense

Ok cool, I get it now.
Thanks, going to have to do it for the M46 though since I already got the M26 and converted some other crews to it.

In my E4 a few weeks/months ago I 1v1'ed a 105 armed Sherman, lost half of my health, then proceeded to kill two T-34's at the same time (while taking almost no damage)

I just want to know WTF this tank is weighted higher in matchmaking then a T1HT, M4, or even a T14. Kinda screws your team when you get put at top tank in this thing and the other team gets T1HTs and M4s with 105mms to slaughter your team with.

That's just how matchmaking works sometimes. I'd get matched as top tank in my Pz. IV against KVs and T1Hs all the time, and that never stopped me.

You might want to actually compare the stats of the M4A2 vs. a Pz IV fist. Pz.IV has the capacity to be a serious threat to those. M4A2 does not, it is nothing more then a thinner skinned T14, same gun, same engine, shouldn't be weighted as greater then a T14 or a T1HT, it is weighted equal to a KV currently.

Meh, I used it for a while, and wasn't really fond of it. I kept it for a while because I thought it would be cool to have a tank for being in the beta. But I sold it in the end, figured so many people had it, and it wasn't that good anyways. I do most of my moneymaking at tier 6 and 7, and my tier 8 Pershing did well. But once I get my T34 premium, then I don't think I'll buy premium again. So pretty much, I saw I had no need for the tank, it was taking up a garage slot, and I could get 300k to get rid of it, money I needed for my T30 (which I am not really impressed with btw).
The armor was OK, but I would have preferred more speed instead. The gun is very inaccurate, with low penetration. It's true that I have ripped up some T34s and M4s in 1 on 1 duels, but why would I keep a tank just for being great in up close battles with same-tier mediums?

Does this "training trick" work with other premiums too ? I was thinking of trading my M4a2E4 for a Ram II, since I think I'd enjoy that tank more ...

Important: Every premium tank has a little known feature- you can retrain its crew to another U.S medium tank without loosing ANY experience. Thus, M4A2E4 can be an excellent trainer for the U.S. medium tanks crew’s.
This is apparently no longer true, I went to go do this and training them with credits was still going to make me lose ~10%.

I made a post above trying to explain the system. If the crew on your E4 is trained for your new medium then you wont lose skill. If the crew is trained for E4 and you transfer then of course there is a penalty. See my post above
