Maus bounces standard E5 ammo on the lower plate at 50 meters, no angling at all. How the #$%^ did this make it to live, much less for this long?

I just unlocked the Maus this weekend.. after 19 tier 10 tanks I think I have truly found a tier 10 tank that I can LOVE! First game in the tank, 4k damage dealt 4k damage blocked lol, WHAT A BEAST!

I love this tank, historically it is my favorite tank. It was technically a failed project but it doesn't make it any less cool being the eaviest tank ever built. I started this game six years ago with it as a goal. I finally got it and am in love with it. I am happy that it is my first tier ten.

no, just no. Were you aiming down at it? Because that is simply improbable, unless rng screwed you. I pen it easy with the 128mm which has far less pen that the e5's 120. So you just either got unlucky or were aiming down at it, effectively increasing its armor. The buffs did not change its lower plate.

Surprised so many people took a gun rammer. Maus was never a "Shooty" tank to me. I went with items that would let me survive as long as possible like spall liner, crew vents, repair box.

My thoughts on the maus is as long gold ammo is the way it is, the super heavy's will always have the same problem. You can angle all you want but there is always a place a gold shell on most tanks will go through and pen. WG can only buff the armor so much, if they buff it so much that gold is REQUIRED to pen (Which is almost is since I almost NEVER get penned by none gold ammo, even on weak spots) than people will complain. So they need to redo how gold ammo works for a permanent solution to the problem heavy tanks that rely on armor thickness face.

This is why Russian heavies are so popular, they rely on spaced armor instead, which is better vs heat. Even though in RL heat has several disadvantages that could be put into the game to make it a "alternative" ammo rather than a "better" ammo.

I'll be honest, i have no clue why everyone praises the armor of the Maus and calls it OP. literally every Tier 10 and most Tier 9s can pen the Maus. Angling? Wheel well. Straight? Lower Front Glacis. Maus covering those two prime targets? Shoot the cheeks. In my experience so far, its massively overhyped. And the gun cant even pen most targets in return unless you dump into the APCR which is wildly expensive and unfeasible without farming several matches in lower tiers to make up for the constant credit loss. No amount of angling can help a Maus these days. Its weak points are too plentiful and widely known, plus HEAT shells are a guaranteed pen.

I love the Maus, really, i do. But untill something changes, its just gonna have to be a show piece in my garage.
