I would like funny hats for my crew instead.

I would buy funny hats if they would make my crew better, after all, I buy 100% crews when I have to get a new crew.

Yet another cash grab.  Hey Wargaming.....why not just make us pay for fuel for the tanks for each battle. Crap did I say that out loud?

Instead of spending time on things to squeeze more cash out of us why not work on something to improve the game. Like replacing this outdated physics engine so that people can take advantage

of AMD Crossfire. Oh wait....no money in that is there.

In a technical sense, this is mostly true.

Consider ammo. It is impossible to run "gold" ammo all the time because you can't turn a profit in a battle (with the exception of a few premium tanks, but you have to pay to get those). Most tanks perform well in most battles with the regular rounds so shooting gold isn't a necessity, but it is undeniably true that a player that does so has an advantage. I can only speak for myself, but I don't believe I have any regular tanks that REQUIRE more prem ammo than they can support by themselves and still be fully competitive

Another case of pay to win in the game is crew training-- with credits you can only get to 80% and then you have to re-grind the experience to get them back to 100%. Until they get back to 100% none of their skills and perks work, putting you at a severe disadvantage (and potentially for a long time). WOW... you don't get it. You are doing it wrong. You need to grind the crew 20% or so into the SECOND skill, then retrain for credits so the Gen Qual of your crew NEVER falls back below 100%...simple.

On top of that, it all makes the game less fun. I signed up for a game called World of Tanks, not World of Supply Depot. Every one of these things that gets added to the game is unneeded complexity...  A lot of us LIKE the complexity, there are many games much more simple if you really want simple.

Oh, I get it now.

Here is how camo currently works (from the wiki):

Camouflage: Camouflage will change the appearance of your vehicle and will give a slight bonus in camo value. There are three types of camouflages: summer, winter and desert, which are used on maps matching the camo type. Within each type you have a choice of several options depending on the nation of the vehicle.

and:

camoPattern
This is the camouflage bonus provided by a camouflage pattern permanently bought for gold or temporarily rented for credits via the "Exterior" window. If a camouflage pattern of the same type as the map you are playing on (summer, winter, desert) is applied. The amount added depends on vehicle type, biggest is for tank destroyers.

So, purchased camouflage currently gives a bonus to the camouflage value, which affects the spotting range calculation for a vehicle:

Camouflage

One factor when calculating spotting range is the camouflage factor of the vehicle to be spotted. The higher the target's camouflage factor, the shorter the spotting range.

However, In 10.0:

Note: "starts working when the concealment is applied."

What is concealment? That's not defined in the Wiki from what I can find, but I do recall the difference between "cover" and "concealment." "Cover" is impenetrable, like a rock or an indestructible wall or a dead tank. "Concealment" merely provides obscurement to vision. Well, that's a bush - of which we have two remaining in World of Tanks; the remainder of the game has been made to resemble Kharkov, Kiev, Stalingrad, & etc. - probably to make the players suffer as did the grandparents of the developers of World of tanks.

So, camouflage will in 10.0 only work "when concealment is applied" (as in: when you are sitting behind the bush), whereas before it applied to your camouflage value for spotting calculations at all times.

Who knows; maybe the announcement was just worded carelessly or incorrectly. However, all I know is that "Concealment," which ONLY lists camouflage as a bonus, is a "NEW" feature according to the announcement under the "VEHICLE CUSTOMIZATION NEW BONUS SYSTEM."

Yeah.  I don't see how this is anything other than a money grab.

Although I think this new system sucks it doesn't seem to be horrible (although it is confusing). From what I see if you already own emblems or inscriptions you will either get +1 to all crew skills or +2 to certain crew member skills. If your tank looks cool and you like it the way it is now is it really worth freaking out over which bonus you will get? I for one have permanent camo on all my tanks and emblems and flags on many. I will keep what I have regardless of what the bonuses will be because I like the ones I have. Do I think this is a complicated money grab, Oh yeah. Am I going to spend a bunch of money to get an tiny extra bonus and make my tanks look weird? Nope. Oh, and taking away the camo bonus at all times? That's a bunch of ______.

Whatever you thought looked cool suddenly gives you a bonus too. Win.

Sucks to be poor I guess. This looks like just a tiny bonus to make emblems and inscriptions more desirable. This is not the Fukushima nuclear plant being relocated to your back yard.

So I already have mostly 2 emblems and 2 inscriptions on my primary tanks. I assume these will be retroactive?

Except they have different effects and magnitudes. So maybe the one you bought for your tank gives a 1% boost to the useless radioman (bonus points if the tank doesnt even HAVE a radioman), while there's one you didn't pick that looks ugly but gives a 2% bonus to the Loader.

FAIL.

And then there are the tanks that cant use all 4 slots for emblems/inscriptions, which are basically being nerfed in 10.0 by way of not recieving a buff all the other tanks are getting. And many of those vehicles are PREMIUM TANKS. They are NERFING PREMIUM TANKS. When has that ever been acceptable?

Nerfing premium tanks unacceptable??? They passed that boundary long ago, when my Type 159 stopped acting like hell on wheels. And I never discovered in update documents where they ever admitted to doing that.

Over weekend, I cowardly surrendered my white flag to WoT, and set up all my tanks for much anticipated 10.00 bonuses! Further on with update 10.01, when tank crews are due to receive extra points for a specific WoT logo tattoo on butt, I hereby pledge to make sure I hold out my end against any inspection by them! Now once again by unpopular demand, the world wide famous "WoT forum puny puker cheap skate tanker chorus" will cough up their favorite hit single of that all time favorite - ”waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”

I agree that nearly all the tanks can be competitive without premium. My point was that most players can easily increase their damage by paying for premium. It won't make them better players, but it is pay to win.
