Ok, I'm just wondering why is there always some shooting going on at the start of nearly every match? I have seen occasionally people get hurt by team mates during this...

I'm in the boat that things those guys who fire right off are nitwits, but I never considered Daved12's reasoning that they might be testing a new gun. Still, I really hate seeing players do that as it lights up their position to the opp force, which can bring shells down on that player and any other player nearby. That also brings a possibility of accidently hitting a friendly, which may get a return fire and start off a skirmish in friendly ranks. I've seen it happen before and it just messes up the battle really before it even starts.

My wish is this: if someone's testing a gun, test it while firing on a sighted enemy!!
And for those guys in the Tier 2 and 3's, stop shooting near your noob teammates to try intimidate or get your way. It's bad sportsmanship and it might chase away people who otherwise might be interested in joining, spending gold, helping WoT grow which benefits us all.

I have a feeling it's people who somehow don't know to double tap their ammo selector changing from AP to HE.  So many people don't know that most simple of controls.

I'm with you Doga... most likely it's those that don't know or don't care about hitting the ammo select key twice to auto-load the round you want in...

I usually chalk it up to someone wanting to switch ammo without realizing they can double-hit the ammo key to reload a new shell. (I've also heard you can change the default ammo in the garage, but I haven't tried it)

I think I've also seen people say it's because they like the sound of their guns (mostly low-tier before ammo is expensive), or because they're using a touchpad on a laptop and accidentally clicked. Others double click in the game window to switch back from the internet/etc. (yes, some people are impatient enough that they have to do something else in the minute while the round loads). Some more troll-ish types like to fire warning shots *near* teammates "for fun" or because "that guy got in my way".

Personally, I consider the number of shots fired in the first 10 seconds of the round to be inversely related to the team's chances of success in that match.

There is a learning process with any game and some people will not read the manual or experiment with the controls to fully understand how to play. I see shooting at nothing as a waste of money that could be better spent!

Or if you run into someone, but honestly people, some people cant drive, because there are no lines. Heavies move out last unless you are in front. Fast tanks should yield from the rear because you can recover lost speed faster than everyone else.

I'll go with the general opinion that they're idiots.  At the beginning of one round on Prokhorovka, my platoon mate was cresting the railroad tracks in his T29 and some moron shot off like an idiot, hit my friend right in the engine and set him on fire, and his T29 burned to death. (this was before the fire & extinguisher changes)  The guy claimed it was a total accident, but it doesn't matter, he was being an idiot with no regard for what he was doing.

Given, something like that doesn't happen often, but its still stupid & unnecessary to fire off at the beginning of the match.  Waste of a shell, reload time, and money.

Wow, you people lack any kind of respect. I've occassionaly did the usual shot into the air to see how a new cannon sounds like and such. Thing is - it NEVER reveals my position and I've NEVER been shot at by enemies after shooting my gun into the air. It's a very wrong assumption that enemies see you if you shoot your gun at the beginning of the match in your base. I don't understand those people that shoot at the ground thought, as I always try it into the sky to avoid killing teammates. So seriously guys - chill out, it doesn't do any harm to you unless it's a newbie/noob/troll/griefer driving the tank.
