Earlier today on my T28 I got two kills and scouted one other tank.  We went on to win the battle and I survived the entire battle, but I only got 312exp.  The very next battle I got only one shot off that did about 20% damage onto a T40 TD when I got shot up by some other heavy.  At the score screen I was shocked to see that I got 386 exp. My question is, why is that when I get two kills I get less exp then when I die only to land one shot?

Thanks!

It depends on a lot of things. What tier were the two kills at? How much damage did you do to finish them off? (Do you have premium?)

You can easily get an insane amount of experience for shooting and damaging tanks far above your own tier (Like a tier IV taking out a tier VI or VII). While you could get very low experience for finishing off a tank at your own tier with <20% health.

That may be it then.  One of the kills I got was a tier below me, and the other was the same tier.  So I guess it's best to just sit back snipe as many higher tier tanks as possible?

I do have a premium account, but not for long.

If you keep getting into high tier fights your best bet is to hang back and try to avoid drawing the attention of the higher tier combatants. If you're at equivalent tiers, I suppose it depends on your playstyle as to how you fight it out.

A large part of your xp comes from team sharing.  The first game if your whole team only killed 3-4 at the end, then you end up with very little xp.  The 2nd game if the entire enemy team is dead, you get a decent chunk even if you didn't do anything.
