Great review. Thinking of getting the KT but don't want to sell my Tiger 1. I'm afraid that after buying the KT it will put me in financial difficulties. What is the average repair cost of the KT and is it worth it?

About 14,000-17,000, 252 per shell for long 88, 1,060-ish for 105mm guns.

Nah. My repair costs never go above 14000. Then again, I've never been racked before so......

So thought it was a Kt's transmisson catching fire from the front?
As only five prototypes of AMX50 were ever released, it’s useless to talk in great detail about their composition and technical data – they were all different. All in all, they all possessed the classic structure, with the driver’s compartment in the front, combat compartment in the middle and engine compartment in the rear (which was different from German “Panther” and “Tiger-B”, that had engines in the front). Its a typo I'am hopeing lol.

They might have made a mistake - the KT was a rear engined, front transmission tank. It is likely that the devs are attempting to differentiate this by saying that the AMX-50 had a rear engined, REAR transmission tank.*

*I don't know anything about the AMX-series so I may of course, be incorrect.

I like the tank, but I am having major problems with my engine being destroyed and getting set on fire for 40% health even with an automatic fire extinguisher.  Ironically I just began training my crew's second secondary skill as firefighting (40% now) and I catch on fire WAY more frequently than before I even had it trained.  I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong since I angle my frontal armor, but I seem to be taking huge crits to the engine at least two or three times more often than my Lowe or Panther 2.  Do CO2 tanks reduce engine fires also or just gas tank fires aka Russian tanks?

Ok. All you people are saying how insanely awesome the KT is, but I just can't seem to get the hang of it. Maybe it's because I've only gotten like 10 games with it, and it's mostly stock, but I can't seem to do anything with it. Each of my games usually ends with me being blown to bits without a single kill to my name and then I I've to pay the 12000 credit repair cost. I've lost a lot of money in this thing. I've also only won like 2 games in it.
So, does it get better with the turret? Failing that, anyone have any tips?
LOL back at beta i got it and i suffer the same problem. But sadly i never got to learn it before the wipe :( .Im about to get it right now though :) .

CO2 filled fuel tanks are less prone to fires. BTW, russian tanks were/are 99% diesel, not gas. Which does not mean they are fireproof. Just somewhat better than gas driven vehicles in this respect.

This thread makes me feel better about my POS Tiger.  I have been patient with Tiger, tried different tactics and equipment combos... and I have had enough.  I will play juuust long enough to move to the Tiger II... and I will not shed a tear when I dump the Tiger...

You will be shedding lots of tears when you get a Tiger II, believe me. I've had it with this damn tank. 68 games in it, 28 victories and only 17 survivals. Its a joke, probably how I play it as I'm sure theres plenty of people who love it. Last game, recieved 6500 credits, repair bill 14000 credits. I don't know if its worth getting binoculars to try to snipe from a LONG distance, because I'm finding I get shredded by whatever I come across.

Trust me. You'll love it after about 100 games. My stats still aren't great(having been dragged down by my first 100 fail games) but its an awesome tank. I had like three top guns in it just yesterday. One game, I got top gun, steel wall, and invader at the same time.

Mmm, I'll keep going with it, have had a few good games but most have been expensive blowups,  :(    Will get to the long 105 eventually, but I'll see how the short 105 performs over a few more matches.

I wish all the reviews of all tanks looked like this. This is VERY well thought out.

Cheers.

All I can add is that fully upgraded Tiger II is very different animal from a stock one. Its like shy kitty turns into saber tooth tiger. Feared by smaller opponents and respected by its peers.

And that sounds 100% how my game experiences went with KING TIGER so far, too.
When I charge I die...when I hide (for sniping) I die a little later.
Usually I am blown up without ever SEEING the enemy. ( No, not arty shots)
The funniest is that this new tank T59 kills my King Tiger like its a PZ35t.

SINCE I GOT PAST VK3601 ITS NOT FUN ANYMORE!!! :(

Once you are out of the stock tracks and turret it becomes very agile and tough to take out, and once you have the long 105mm you are able to dish out at tanks you would normally have trouble penetrating with the 88.

Equiptment wise, adding the stab and rammer increase the KT's effectiveness by a noticable margin (at least for me) because your able to shoot faster and you have better accuracy while you are in motion.

I have my KT with all upgrades except the 105 long gun. Been using the 105 short, waiting for my XP is enough for the upgrade. My winning ratio improves after the turret upgrade and 105 gun. Lost a lot of credits in the beginning of the grind.

Crews are at 100% with second secondary skills repair + firefighting(carried over from Tiger 1). Modules : Rammer, ventilation and Spall Liner. Adding spall liner helps a lot because you always become the first target by the arties especially if you are top in the list. And your repair cost jumps if you are killed.

Also be discriminate of using the expensive 105 ammo. Stay alive as much as you can by the end of the game though sometimes can't be helped with incompetent team.

I'm not sure why it is not fun anymore. I just recently got my KT, as you can see from my stats, and I love this tank. The KT is the first tank I have had where angling is probably the most important thing. I read a guide on playing the KT and the user said that moving the front back and forth constantly would help deflect shots. This is true.

The KT has huge survivability increase over the Tiger I because of the sloped armor and health. I can manhandle tanks of my tier unless they are able to get up on me. IS-3 is the best example because I can often pen on them and they will bounce on me from a distance. Up close it's no competition and the IS-3 can walk right through me. The KT finally lets me pay back Lowe owners for so many tiers of advantage  :Smile-playing: .

My KT is stock except for the suspension upgrade which makes the KT dance like a ballerina compared to the stock suspension. I elited my Tiger so I started off with those items (engine upgrade) in my KT as well.

Like most tanks, this one benefits from team play. I often platoon with a friend who has an IS-3. When he gets tracked I jump in and deflect until he gets some repairs. Paired we can handle short and long range. I can't imagine how much more awesome this tank will be with the turret and final gun upgrade.

I sold my Tiger and transferred the rammer and sight laying device for faster loads and aim time. I have not put anything in the third slot yet, but I can already tell you that I will never sell this tank. The only thing besides elite that would make this tank even better is a regular team to play with that knows how to play.

Finally, if you are getting swarmed by T-59, or other mediums who bring you down, then either your team is leaving you high and dry, or they are good medium drivers running a wolfpack. Standard matches are filled with flaps that don't necessarily play well and this can lower your survivability tremendously. Being the last man standing with over 2/3 the enemy team alive means you are going to fall  :Smile-hiding: .

Finally, I didn't hate my Tiger. It was my only real heavy and as such was a training ground for the KT. I had some unbelievable matches and some ones that made me want to quit playing. I would say that 9 times out of 10 it's the team that causes this frustration, not the tanks.

If you didn't Elite the Tiger, then I can see having some issues in the KT. I can not see someone failing to Elite the Tiger when it's commonly accepted that Tier V and higher sucks stock so get what you can out of the vehicles in the tree below it so that you don't have to start completely stock.

Edit: The heavy KT requires a bit of mixed bag for charge/snipe. I don't want to say you are not doing it right, but you are not doing it right if frustration is all you feel. KT has no camo value so sniping isn't the forte, long range shooting is. There's a difference. Snipers can sit camouflaged and not get spotted easily while the KT WILL get spotted by a scout easily. Charging never works without support. You need support to charge. If you can get another heavy and maybe a medium or two to assist your charge you will see a high rate of success. If everyone plays like death/repair costs must be avoided at all costs then your solo charge will fail.

Your other tanks do not play like the KT. I think if you get some decent people to play with that support you a little more you will love this tank.
