T-34, Zis-57mm gun. Not because it is the best at any given category, but because it is the most balanced. T-34 is the art of knowing that some quality of the tank is always going to be superior to that of your enemy, and then knowing how to exploit that.

You could make a similar argument for the Crusader, or M7, except that the T-34 has much better armor and is more tolerant of mistakes.

My Stug laughs at your armor and blindness. I can easily pen anywhere but your mantlet. I will spot you stationary/camo paint at 369.8m. I use binos, camo net and paint. You wouldnt spot me firing until 251.1m. You will be dead long before you get there. I would also use mobility to to make sure I can control the engagement. I would not even need gold to pen you. I might use though just for kicks.

I fear M4 derps because one lol rng shot will rekt me. If they miss I will tear them up.

We can kill you just as easily. APCR rounds will go right though your armor like a knife through butter. I have beaten the life out of MANY StuGs with my KV-220.

M7 used to be king of tier 5 before 9.3 haven't played it since probably going to try to get a Pz III/IV as it seems to be the same play style.

Many fun tier 5 mediums. M7 tops for fun, Type T-34 better all around. S35 CA is a "bathtub of whoop [edited]waiting to be dumped on the unsuspecting" fun.

Note how most of those are premium tanks.

I like KV-1, AT 2 and KV-220-2 in that order. I guess I like the slow heavy armored stuff.

in my hands there are lots of workable tier 5 tanks. Great tier. Now when i look at the other team i hate seeing a platoon of t-67s. the 67 with its combo of speed, gun and gun handling and great gun depression can with the right player really abuse the other team. So though I like to play many, seeing well played t-67s gives me pause

The Ram-II isn't half bad either.

...and yes, by underestime - I do mean UNDERESTIMATE..

T67 gets my vote as well. It plays almost exactly the same whether in tier 5 game or tier 7, and can be equally devastating.

I'll take my tier 4 Matilda with an allowance for premium ammo into a tier 5 game.. or tier 6 game over choices for tier 5s.  ... but if I had to pick a tier 5 it's the KV-1 for me.

I like a tank that can both lead a slow methodical advance OR snipe across the map...  and even better, do both at the same time.

VK 16.01 Leopard one of the most underrated tier 5 tanks

That's because it's just an overweight Luchs. Every other tier V light tank is better.

why is that a bad thing? The Luchs is a great tier 4 light tank.....besides I wouldn't go as far as to call it the worst I never recall seeing anyone praising the Crusader

The Luchs is great, but giving it a fatter hull and moving it up a tier makes it just bad. I would rather drive the crusader if for no other reason than it's more difficult to hit. Although I have to admit that I have no experience with it.

The leopard is a really awkward tank to drive. It is slower than the luchs, fat, a tier up, all for 60 more damage in a clip. Definitely not worth it. It isn't even that great at being an anti-scout, since you will bounce/miss half your shots unless at point blank range, and then you will die before you can reload. I love fighting leopards in my elc, since I can 2 shot them and take maybe 100ish damage in return :P

Crusader has regular MM 5-7, other tier 5 lights have scout MM 6-8.  Crusader is like a slower M7 with on the move camo.  Good tank overall...
