Good, I no longer have to pay with BTC via Gyft->Rixty->WG. I've been wanting direct BTC payment for a long time. :great:

My dyslexic mind at first read 'Buy Tanks, Ships or Planes with Bacon!' Needless to say I was initially a bit confused.

Bacon would be more valuable and stable than Bitcoin - it actually has a market beyond drug dealers and conspiracy theorists.

Get ready for about 1,000 uninformed responses (We have already had the monopoly money reference, beanie babies and tulips to come) .

Bitcoin is happening people, get over it.  Just because you don't understand it it does not make it stop.

I looked just out of curiosity how much gold or a Lowe may cost in bitcoin... I couldn't see the option anywhere. Anyone can tell when where this magical select Bitcoin option is?

I'm an economist, with the degree and everything. I'd rather put my money into investing in cassette tape manufacturers than Bitcoin - at least I don't get a heart attack every time some Internet drug dealer gets busted by the FBI and my net worth drops 400%.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitcoin

Yes, it's new. Yes, the price has fluctuated a lot. Thing is, this is something that really hasn't been done before, and has solved a lot of the problems with electronic payment systems in the past. So how to use it is still being hammered out, and exactly what problem domains it solves best are still being experimented with.

For every economist who says it's a bad idea, you'll find others who think it's a great idea. It's not a solution for everything. Only government fiat currencies claim to be the solution for everything, and in fact turn out to be suboptimal for a lot of problem domains (online micropayments for instance). Free markets allow people to choose the appropriate tool to solve the problem in the best way according to their needs. If bitcoin isn't a good solution for you, don't use it. Just don't stop me and others from using it.

Couldn't find it either. I suspect marketing is out of sync with reality. Maybe they'll add the option overnight...

Looking forward to getting rid of some bacon Bitcoin I mined a few years ago.

Now that's what I call leverage. Can I interest you in some AAA-rated mortgage backed securities?

When asked about Bitcoin almost exactly two years ago, SerB himself said “No – and you won’t be able to pay with candy wrappers either.”  What changed?
