I am almost to the point where I might be able to upgrade from My Current Ram II to a Lee or a Sherman. I want to completely circumnavigate the Lee, (The second most ridiculous looking tank next to the Cunningham)and go for an M4 to start with. But I am looking at the Sherman and I see one advantage and that's speed. So the Sherman is a Heavier Light Tank because it still can't kill much of anything without a lot of work and some luck. So what to you folks think? Stay with the Ram II or wade my way up to a Pershing?

I've never tried the Ram II coz I'm piss poor!    <_<

But the M4 Sherman is one of best tanks I've ever played.  :Smile_honoring:

Once you have the DERP gun and your crew around 85% and up it becomes a very enjoyable tank.

Although I sold mine I really missed it now. I'm currently grinding by T20 and, man, its a pain in the ass since it is quite expensive to repair. :Smile-izmena:
I'll have to muster the patience once again. Next is the Pershing and I'm really looking forward to it.  :Smile_honoring:

Thanks for you Imput, I don't understand what a Derp gun is so if you help me out with that I would be very grateful.

The derpgun for the M4 is the short 105mm howitzer. It's derptastic.

M4 Sherman's DERP Gun
name: 105 mm SPH M4L23
dmg: 410/350
pen: 53/150
RoF: 8.57

get that gun and stick with it until you get the E8  :Smile_honoring:

you can play as a sniper or you can hustle and slug it out at closer range with enemy tanks within your tier.

for battles where you are one of the lower tier tanks go with the higher tiers and back them up.

just be careful not to shoot your allies when you are behind them. the DERP gun is one nasty SOB when fired at the ass.  :Smile-playing:

The others have already answered the specific question, but here's the background info.

Derpgun is the slang term coined to describe heavy, short barelled howitzers.  They are slow, clumsy, inaccurate, and they have almost no penetration value.  What they do have is HUGE explosive damage with HE shells.

The most notable example is the KV's 152mm gun.  It's really just a shortened artillery gun, slapped into a tank.  One hit from it will often obliterate almost anything tier 5 and under, instantly.  The 105mm guns on the Sherman, PzIV, Hetzer and T40 are also referred to as derpguns, though they're not nearly as potent as the KV's monster gun.

Most Succinct answer, peculiar nomenclature they've use for this my curiosity is even more perked, but all in all you could wind up fighting a Grizzly Bear with a cap gun when it comes down too it...this type of gun probably does not utilize armor piercing shells. Thank you :Smile_honoring:

Some of them can in fact load AP rounds.  They're just totally worthless - almost no penetration, and lousy damage compared to the HE shells.

Slappy the Ram II is a premium tank and is like a Sherman.  The differences are the guns and the armor.  Ram II has decent armor for its tier and and a dangerous gun.  The M4 has less armor, faster, and can fit the 105mm.

So, you are two different types of chicken and waffles.

They are two different play styles. The ram2 is an amazing brawler while the sherman is more of a stand off tank. M1a1 gun is good for range and the 105 is good for short range.

It suppose you have two very valid points with regard to the playing styles, If you have light armor you'd want to fight from afar and be able to run after you start something. On the other hand the extra armor the Ram has enables it  utilize it's astounding rate of fire.
