PR and Marketing Dept Staff
It would be unfair not to mention these guys… If it wasn’t for them, you would never know anything about World of Tanks. Exhibitions, magazines, web-sites… the WOT infoweb has been and is spreading everywhere at the hands of our capable PR staff. And now, because of their work many people enjoy World of Tanks. How many? At present there are more than 3,000,000 players. The street cred of the project and the company is in no way an accident and is the result of this talented team.
The PR and marketing department is the oldest in Wargaming operation group. As a result the staff have known each other for quite some time; it helps organize their work flawlessly and makes the atmosphere of the room relaxed and fun while maintaining a high level of professionalism.

Mike Belton, Head of PR and Marketing Dept
According to Mike Belton, head of PR and Marketing department, the friendly atmosphere in the office is one of the key principles of their success. He confesses he is not a strict boss and trusts his colleagues to the extent that he does not control all the projects implemented by the department.
Taking into account the workload the department has, Mike considers himself lucky to have such reliable team under him.
“Basically our normal working regime is: Rush!” Mike jokes. “But everyone working in our department can say that they love the job they are doing, and that is not an exaggeration.”
What exactly is their job?.. Well, they have a huge number of duties. So we will give you a brief overview, principally because of this team you know about us and all the upcoming projects planned by Wargaming.net. Press-releases, interviews, videos, exhibitions… they are in charge of everything you see and hear, essentially the voice of Wargaming.net.
The most recent task of the department was very time-and effort-consuming they organized the participation of World of Tanks in E3 exhibition in Los Angeles.

World of Tanks on E3
Wargaming.net PR-managers are extremely happy with the result and say it was worth the effort. The show literally tore up the roads of LA with the help of real tanks that left everyone in awe.

Another debut exhibition for Wargaming.net took place in England in the world-renowned tank museum in Bovington during the annual ‘TankFest’. Wargaming.net did not exhibit real tanks but instead the virtual ones that appear in World of Tanks. Being the only representative of the gaming industry, World of Tanks was a huge success not only amongst the existing players but the game also attracted those who had never played it before.

WOT at TankFest
Dasha Davis, PR-manager described the experience as “Absolutely stunning”.
“World of Tanks was definitely a huge success in Bovington,” she says. “There were no free places in front of the computers. Kids, adults and seniors attempted to show off their skills. It was great fun. Also nearly everybody wanted to take a picture in front of our booth, which was something new for those who visit TankFest regularly”.
In the near future the PR and Marketing department is preparing for another big exhibition that will take place in Koln, Germany in August. Gamescom is the World’s largest public trade fair – an event focusing on interactive games and entertainment. Jeremy Taylor, PR-manager coordinating Wargaming.net’s participation in the exhibition revealed that the company is going to surprise players. How? It’s a secret for now, you’ll have to wait and see.
“I cannot tell you more at the moment,” Jeremy says. “However I promise that the surprise will be positive…and not only for the players in World of Tanks!”
While we are looking forward to hearing what surprise they have prepared, let’s delve deeper into the atmosphere of PR department.

First of all, creativity is essential for them to do their job successfully, and it is reflected in all spheres of life including leisure.
“We prefer to have fun in unusual ways”, Mike Belton says. “The most recent activity took place in Germany where we went to play football with our partners from different companies from all over Europe.”
Another PR-manager, Serge Foris agrees and gives another example:
“Usually all the most interesting events happen unintentionally,” he says. “For instance once we were thinking of how to celebrate Jeremy’s birthday and what present to give him. The idea that came to our minds almost simultaneously was to give him Jessica Alba, he is a big fan of hers. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to present him with a lovely evening with the actress or something similar… So, we gave him his personal Jessica. Now she is with him…always”

Serge also says that they enjoy every aspect of their job: Creating slogans for campaigns, logos for T-shirts, unconventional labels for conventional stuff…

Serge Foris, PR-manager
“We are very proud to have prepared our first Wargaming TV News aimed at the English-speaking audience. Currently it’s not 100% English, we just added English subtitles. Hopefully a full English version will appear shortly,” Serge says.
No secrets were given away by PR and Marketing department. However as they cooperate closely with all the departments including Community and Content all their updates and plans will appear on your favorite gaming and community sites. Follow the news!

Nice to see that there are actually faces and people involved. It's a good reminder to the players that there are actual people rather than a bunch of nameless, faceless automatons involved in the day to day operations. (Ofc the Tank Girls are kinda easy on the eyes as well, lol). As long as there is a balance between marketing/promotion and game quality (including listening to player input) imo things will go well. From my experience PR with Wargamming is the worse I've ever experienced or not experienced...more like not at all experienced.

Yes, I feel similar. I do not know if 15,000 players on the US server at this time of the night is something to toast over champagne, but in the same regard there have been over one million world of tank registrations, so as far as marketing is concerned; I believe they are doing a good job.
How this game is set up, regardless of one million or sixty players - as long as tiers match up, the total amount of players does not matter to us personally. I know that same number is very important to wargaming. Even if all things regarding game-play stay the same, it would be nice to see 100,000 average daily users. That would make me look forward to long term stability of this game and further enhancements of game engine, increased server abilities, and eventually a world of tanks 2 or (a real treat) as a balanced environment of both world of tanks and warplanes games, played also with anti aircraft vehicles.
It was a nice short introductory article to a department of this company. I enjoyed the read.

Wargaming has a PR group? I don't assume they actually do anything, because these reports always read as if they're written by a middle schooler, and the marketing for this game is atrocious.
The PR for this game is easily one of the worst I've seen, even EA does better.
