Converting Experience

So just started playing this week...but finding that when I hit Convert, it shows the experience total I have, but it wont let me add any amount in the convert box.  I am not a premium account, but didnt ready anywhere in the .pdf that said you had to be a premium member to do a conversion.  The up and down arrows dont work and I cant just type a number in there.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong??

You can only convert by spending gold, at the rate of 1 gold per 25 xp.

You need to buy gold to convert experience.
