I am disappointed in the new sounds, a very mixed bag.   The good: the engine sounds, positional perspective, internal tank sounds.   The horrible:  the guns all sound like popcorn farts - no differentiation from gun type to gun type, caliber to caliber, muffled, with no dynamic punch or perceived power.  The new gun sounds may be more realistic, but now the game, with these gun sounds, lost one of the most attractive aspects (imho) which was the oomph, power, and perspective provided by the different gun sounds that varied with the caliber and type of guns on each tank.   After all that's why I play the game - to shoot tanks!    Example:  The Leapard 1 had one of the best guns in the game and it sounded like it.  Now it sounds like every other gun.......

Any compatible sound mods yet???  I really would like to start playing again.  But I WILL NOT with the current sounds.  Been watching OMC but nothing yet.

Sorry....OMC sound mods have been deactivated.  I'm sure they are pending, upon getting them to work with the new version.

When I first played WoT with the new sound, I preferred the original, however, I have grown to like the new sounds.  I do think the sound when your tank is PENNED sounds too much like a bounce.  It would be nice to have that part changed.

Not sure if this was because of the sound engine change, or just updated code in how sound was handled, but, before this patch i had to make sure to put the sound through my headset before i launched the game.  If i didn't it would play through my speakers on the monitor ONLY, which was quite annoying when i was watching videos and then launched the client without paying attention.   Now i can switch from speakers to headphones while the client is open, which for me is a huge QoL improvement.  +1

I use 5.1 speakers and headphones with 5.1 in windows sound proprieties. I dont get all the sounds efects when using my headphones unless I change to stereo. It's really annoying having to change 5.1 to 2.0 every time I wanna use my headset.

"As most of those folks have never been to a ordnance range, they apply alot of SWAG methodology."

As a former tank gunner, I can assure you that the sound inside and around the tank is a great big booming sound, louder than anything you have ever heard in your lifetime.  Every single time a gun is fired it is the loudest thing you have ever heard.  It does NOT sound like anything less than that from a distance of less than 500 meters.

Quoted to reinforce the point ... Thanks for the back-up ... again ... hopefully, for the last time ...

Whether you like the new sounds or not doesn't really matter as it is your opinion, which you are entitled to.  What is NOT an opinion is that the new sounds are more "complicated" compared to the "simpler" sounds that were the norm in the previous version.  These new "complicated" sounds ARE a DISTRACTION to game play, compared to the previous, "simpler" sounds.  THIS is the main reason I would like to see the option to use the old sounds over the newer ones.

Turning OFF the new sounds, while less of a distraction, also has the unwanted effect of not giving you the information that IS needed.

WE WANT THE OPTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love the new sound and physics, it brings the game to another level of awesomeness!!!! I was a volunteer and participated in the Live tank action at the bovington tank museum. I can say the new sound for tanks and guns are pretty accurate. Granted not overly diversified but for a new patch, I am greatly surprised and simply dig it.

I just enjoy so much to put my headphones on and play the game, especially when inside tank view. Sound is killer!!!

And for those perpetual complainers, watch the goddamn videos WG made. They freaking put mics all over a few moving tanks...can't say after that that it's not accurate...come on...get a life

For clarity ...

So was I ... and a TC ... and a few slots beyond that ...

No, those sounds are not the same inside and out - that line alone causes me to doubt your veracity.

The only thing that annoys me in the new sound package is the immobility warning, which is nails-on-a-blackboard irritating and comes too late ...

But it does convey a certain situational overload and communicates a certain "stress" environment in which the TC must operate.

I hate it, but I love it for just that reason.

just wondering if my mind is trolling or ....

You know how when a flash bang goes of and everything gets kinda hazy and the ambient sound gets ... muffled and distant?

Not sure but it seems to me when I get hit solidly that "flash bang effect" happens with the sound kinda backing out and some weird visual thing?

is my mind trolling me?

If it is actually not just me having reality issues I have to say that effect is an interesting addition.

I guess I'll have to get War Thunder.  Since there seems like there is no interest in a sound option.

A few things to remember . . .

1. Even with GOOD audio gear, it is next to impossible to get an "accurate" audio recording of a nearby gunshot - duration and impulse require a small size speaker, and yet you need a very large dynamic range from both the speaker and the recording medium. (This applies to small arms as well as artillery.)

2. Speakers and headphones will NOT do a good job reproducing "up close" gunshots . . . nor would you want them to for a game, as even a single shot would damage your hearing.

Still having said that, the first thing I thought of with the new sounds is that a lot of the tank guns now sound like suppressed handguns. (The real thing, not the silly stuff you hear on TV shows and in the movies.) Someone else mentioned Airsoft, and I think they're not far off the mark. The previous tank gun sounds in the game made for a better, more immersive gaming experience, IMHO.

Guys i have a THX certified speaker system from Logitech. and am using your "wide" sound range setting, and quite frankly the new sounds are HORRIBLE!!!!. omg i miss the old sounds and i have only played 1 game so far.

using the artillery the explosions sound like fire crackers seriously. there is no more "boom" that used to happen when high caliber guns are shot off. (and exploded when hitting ground)

the engine sounds too are seriously nerfed and sound frieking horrible!!!!

THIS UPDATE IS TURNING ME OFF THIS GAME .

i dont understand how you think this is better sounds when they are much quieter and much less accurate.. seriously. fix. the. damn. sounds. this is an embarassing update to say the least.

i dont even want to imagine how horrible the sounds are on less powerful speakers.
the sounds did not have any problems before why fix something thats not even broken to begin with? what a waste of man hours

the # of players left on the server speaks volumes for how much the game is ruined because of sounds, literally HALF the player base has quit playing. good job wargaming
