Okay, while I'm not a noob in most respects, this topic keeps escaping me and I've not found (so far) a real clear cut explanation on premium tank XPs. So here's my basic question: Do premium tanks only earn xps that must be converted to free xps to use, or is there a way for them to earn free xps straight up?
Because it seems to me that the uses of a premium tank pretty much amount to:
1) good silver coin maker,
2) battle to accelerate training of the premium tank's crew,
3) regular xp maker (which doesn't help because you can't upgrade a premium tank)
4) just a tank you happen to enjoy playing because of its own combat merits.

They earn xp that must be converted to free xp with gold before you can use it. The only free xp that they earn is the same 5% bonus as any other tank.
