Is how my tanks sound when they fire their guns.  The ISU-152 used to sound like it was the hammer of Thor, now a spitball through a straw has more oomph.

Overall the new sounds are underwhelming. Tanks sound like muffled lawn mowers and tanks now sound like shot guns and .22 rim fires.

Actual large caliber guns firing actually don't make as much noise as you may think.  Don't confuse the echo or reverb to being part of the sound of the gun firing.  The echo can sometimes seem louder and deeper than the actual gun.   One thing WG could do is program some echo into this new sound where terrain would "dictate" echo to happen.  But only from an "outside" perspective , leaving the inside or "sniper view" perspective sounds alone.  They are very close!

The only issue I have is the voices seem muted to me. Other than that I've gotten used to them.

Honestly, I'm underwhelmed too.  However, I feel we've gone from "2002 racing game engines" to "realistic lawnmowers" and from "a kid yelling 'pew'" to "these actually sound like guns"

A step in the right direction is still better than no steps.

I'd like to see more situational sounds.  Give me the whole battlefield.  I want to hear the enemy arty fire so I can guess about where it is.  I want to hear every round whiz past me.  I want to hear shell impacts.  I want to hear more reloading sounds so I can estimate where in the process I am while I'm surveying the minimap.  I want to go full audiophile on the battlefield.

You can hear the rounds whiz past you now.

Try firing from the exterior view? From inside a tank firing it's gun is rather quiet and muffled. The gun sounds are actually a LOT more realistic now than before.

Even in exterior many guns sound like a muted 12 gauge shotgun blast.

Might be your sound system then... I use a cheap logitec headset, perhaps you could check something like that out? Also try turning your audio to narrow in the settings.

I dont see a reason to go backwards to cheaper equipment.

There are a plethora of setting adjustments in the game menu to manipulate the sounds of the game.  USE THEM.

Does one of them include a way to make the guns sound less like a 22 and 12 gauge?
