I just went and looked again, the number of setting that could effect these sounds is not a plethora, its closer to 7 and that includes the music and ambiance as options.

Did you change settings to narrow? Either you don't know what cannons sound like, or there is an issue with your sound system or settings. It MAY have installed incorrectly, I've seen some guys with that issue, but other than that it's got to be on your end.

The guns are just weak. Tried narrow and the engine is still a lawn mower and the guns are still weak. As I am not the only person underwhelmed by the sound I am guessing its not just a me thing at all.

Narrow should isolate your sounds a little more, making it so you can hear your stuff a little better. Idk man, I'm a tanker, and while I've been on Strykers for a year and a half, I still remember what my old girl sounds like... and these gun sounds are pretty good. Quieter than IR of course, but not muffled.

I am sure todays tanks sound like this, my point is WWII tanks, according to those who were in them, did not. We seem to have modern sound on ancient tanks now.

We'll they are certainly closer to the fake sounds of pre 1.14. A cannon doesn't simply sound like an explosion.

Is how my tanks sound when they fire their guns.  The ISU-152 used to sound like it was the hammer of Thor, now a spitball through a straw has more oomph.,son.

It's 2016. get some real speakers, kid.

but seriously, a decent speaker system or headset does make all the difference in the world.

I got a crap USB headset from Chine'r for $23 bucks that is simply the sheez.

My 16yr old Cambridge Soundworks 4.1 Quadrophonic setup completely wrecks.

So, yeah, time to upgrade.

You can hear the rounds whiz past you now.

Some, but I'm talking more than just the ones within 10 meters of your tank or whatever tiny distance they currently have set.

I would not expect to hear rounds that far away anyway with all the other noise

Historically, with the tanks in game, the commander would have the hatch open in order to be looking around.  Otherwise, the tank is pretty blind.  Tanks very rarely "button up" completely, at least 1930-1950.  You'd be surprised how loud supersonic booms of large caliber rounds passing by are.

Sounds pretty similar... I am sure a tank would deaden some of that.

Some yes, but notice how you still hear the incoming round 400-500 meters away.  So from an open hatched tank, I'd imagine 100 meters wouldn't be too insane a distance to hear a shell whiz past.  Especially if you're not moving.

Right, but you have to start thinking in WoT terms, the maps are only so big, and, if you heard the arty shells at full volume, with realistic levels, audio-cues in-game would be swallowed.

Not sure what the issue is, shells travel over, they make sound, it's represented in-game and it's a complaint?

Not a Sim, repeat... Not a Sim. Note Not A SIMULATION.

ARCADE GAME.

Seriously, turn up the bass, sit back and play...

Does one of them include a way to make the guns sound less like a 22 and 12 gauge?

LoL

Why should players have to manipulate the limited sound options so the game doesn't sound like go-carts shooting off firecrackers?

Who cares if these sounds are "more realistic" in an arcade game?  They sound like they were recorded from a distance at a shooting range.  The issue with that is we are not at a shooting range, we are sitting directly behind the gun (and from our enemies, in front of them).

The sounds don't bother me that much.  The module damage alarm is a little annoying, though.  I don't need an alarm for every little thing.  The RU sixth sense buzzer is really all I need.  I know when I'm tracked when my tank jerks to a stop, my track is laying on the ground, and my tank won't move, and it is red in the display.  Don't need an alarm.

It's not manipulating the sound options within the game many are talking about.  Many suggest looking at your sound card settings which may not be set at optimum.  There is a reason sound card software have cinema, sports, movie, standard etc options available.  There is a reason sound cards have the options to adjust bass, treble...speaker distance...speaker type etc.  There is a reason sound cards have all these options...so , you the user can correct sound for your setup.  Not saying the sound is wrong coming in, it's your setup that doesn't reproduce it properly at it's current settings.

Especially after the new the last update settings should be changed to get the most out of it.

No one likes to be told there stuff is not straight, so it's more likely burping at a wall would get a better reception.

+1

No output change for your pc is going to make the sounds less muted and distant.

Here is Junkers, who does not have a crappy sound card setting on his PC (which is a beast machine).  Can't post a twitch video link apparently.  I suggest if you watch it, to skip ahead to the testing.
