First of all I searched the forums for an answer but the search function is hopeless.

The search "gun fires by itself" returns "One or all of your search keywords were below 3 characters or you searched for words which are not allowed, such as 'html', 'img', etc, please increase the length of these search keywords or choose different keywords."

Frequently, when the game begins, my gun will fire inadvertently. I don't touch the fire button and on more than one occasion I was across the room getting coffee when "boom," the gun goes off.

I notice that other team mates' gun fire at the beginning of the game as well. One apparently hit another member who was convinced the shot was deliberate and proceeded to kill the initial shooter despite the claims that he didn't fire it intentionally.

What causes this? Is there anything I can do to prevent it?

Sounds like a bug. A lot of people fire guns at the start because they're noobs and don't know how to switch ammo any other way.

This.

Do you use a wireless mouse or keyboard? I had one go all wonky on me not long ago and it just kept spamming random keystrokes. If not, send in a ticket on it.

also, if your laptop has a touchpad, sometimes "tap to click" is on and fires when you brush your hand over it. Took me a while before i found that out.

Based on your symptoms it could be a wonky wireless device.

I quite using my wireless mouse because it jiggled too much and bought a cheap wired mouse. Maybe I do need to submit a ticket because it's quite annoying and when using premium shells, expensive with no return
