I actually reached the Type T-34 with the goal of zooming past it to get the WZ-132, but I have fallen in love with the Type-T34, so haven't even gone past it.

In my almost 9000 battles, I've managed 3 Radley-Walters, and 2 of them are with this tank..... which I've only played about 250 times.  I also just got my 2nd Mark of Excellence on it; something I've done with no other tank.

With that said, I'm wondering if I should continue down the Medium line?  How are the Type 58, T-34-1, and T-34-2?  Are they at all similar to the Type T-34?

.... or should I continue toward the WZ-132?

Thanks

They are all ok. But its your choice which line you go. I wold pick light tank as I love light tanks.

I love both Lights & Mediums, but I like my Type T-34 better than any Light I've ever played....

Type 58 is fairly similar; bigger gun, turret is okay for a med, still only -5 gun depression.

Type 58 is pretty ok if you know what you're doing. T-34-1 has a glorious facehug. T-34-2 was terrible before but they buffed it's gun depression from -3 to -5 so it might be ok now. I hear the WZ-120 is good once fully upgraded, but there's a terrible stock grind

Overall I preferred the lights by a wide margin. Did OK in the T-34-1 but the WZ-131 and WZ-132 are just all around better tanks. My opinion of course.

Yeah, the lack of gun depression takes some getting used to, but I obviously am used to that now, so if the next Mediums are similar in that regard, that's not an issue.

I went up the light and heavy lines, I have the WZ-132 and 110 now and I'm enjoying both of them. I recently rebought the Type 58 because I've heard great things about the T-34-1, so I'm going to unlock it and train up a crew for when I get to the WZ-120 from the light line.  So essentially I'm just skipping the T-34-2.

59-16 is difficult, due to an inferior 57mm to the russian T-34 and MT-25.   but its rather fun, though even more difficult, with the 76mm auto

wz-131 is a joy. its basically a T-34-2 with no turret armor, superior speed, and FAR FAR superior gun handling(RIP T-34-2, beat by a tier 7)

WZ-132 is a minor upgrade to WZ-131, that some people say isn't worth it.   its a decent tank to be sure.  but the increase in stats isn't that much, specially when your giving up tier 8 matches for tier 9 and 10 only.

despite that, WZ-132 is still my favorite.

for the mediums

Type 58 is...kinda bleh.    its gun is rather low pen, and the tank is generally all around inferior to T-34-85/rudy.

T-34-1 is a joy.  its gun handling is bad, its dpm is crap.   but its pen(for tier) is great, its got a bit of punch to the gun,  its decently mobile(and very low to the ground).  and its turret is great.

my 1 major complaint about it. is the IDIOT loader who won't get his FREAKIN HEAD OUT OF THE CUPOLA.

seriously...this loader should be picking ammo up and putting it in the gun.  not stickign his head into the cupola.    you will seriously lose this freaking loader more than you lose any other crew member.   so put someone you hate there.  cause its the KV-5 R2D2 of the T-34-1.

(why his head is in the cupola when he's loading the gun.  only drunk wargaming knows.)

T-34-2 is......power creeped.

its a minor buff to the T-34-1.  but its gun is laughably worse than WZ-132 and even WZ-131.   its gun is also inferior to T-44(100mm)  as well as its hull armor.  and speed.

its turret is strong yes, but it doesn't feel like an improvement over T-34-1.

all things considered. its power creeped to hell, and has been for a while.  its 122mm is NOT good enough to justify using.  as you'd be better off with a KV-85, or tier 7 heavy. or tier 6 TD.

another issue is that while WZ-132 is nice and goign from it to WZ-120 gives u a headstart on the gun grind,    T-34-2's path doesn't give u a headstart at all.  and you have to gridn WZ-120 through the 181 pen, then 189 pen gun.

while WZ-132 you start with the 189.

I have to agree with this up to the WZ-132 and including the Type 58.... I have researched & bought the T-34-1 but have not put a crew in it yet. Waiting to elite the Type 58 before I move the crew. I have the T-34-3 which is my favorite premium by far so I am use to the poor gun depression. At the moment the WZ-131 is my favorite tank in the game, it is a bit challenging with respect to the gun depression but that 85mm is awesome and it is blazing fast.... I just love it, even more than the 132.

The Type 58, T-34-1, WZ-120, and 121 are all fun, solid tanks (if you like Chinese tank character, which is basically mobile platform with big gun).  None of them are really like the Type T-34, which is more about rate of fire.

However, going straight up the medium line is the worst way to research the Chinese tree.  That lands you at the WZ-120 with a huge amount of grinding to get the tank into a position where it can actually compete as a tier 9 medium.  The best way to do the tree is to research the heavies to tier ten, then the lights through the 132 to the 120, and the back to unlock the remaining mediums if you so desire. Doing it that way lands you at the WZ-120 with on the suspension and turret to unlock.  At the very least though, unlock the IS-2 from the Type 58 before the T-34-1, that unlocks the top gun on the 34-1 for free.

The 34-2, despite its recent buffs is still worse than both the Chinese premium tier eight mediums with limited matchmaking.  Use the 100mm and its a nerfed Type 59.  Use the 122mm and its a nerfed T-34-3.  Despite that it sees tier tens and they don't.  I suppose every line needs a dud, this one is sure it.  Interestingly enough,  the 34-1 is one of the best tier seven mediums.
