It's time for the Tank Destroyer Throwdown! This weekend, grab your favorite tier VIII tank destroyer and head to the battlefield! Players will face off in an epic 1v1 clash on Mittengard for gold and glory!! Don't have a tier VIII tank destroyer? You're in luck! Players can rent the German Jagdtiger 8,8 to join the fray - take the fight to them and out DPM your enemies for the win!

Joining a tournament and earning a prize is easier than ever! In the Tank Destroyer Throwdown, single-player teams are split into groups, with each group having no more than 10 teams. Facing all other teams in their group, the best tier VIII TD commander will earn the 1st place prize - a cool 500 gold! If you're not at the top of the pack, don't worry, players will earn gold all the way to 7th place!

Run into a player that brought something other than a tank destroyer? Send in a dispute immediately after the tournament ends and we will adjust the scores. Please note, you must include all of the requested information when you submit your dispute!

 

Disputes must adhere to the protocol detailed below or risk having the dispute dropped by tournament administration.

• Disputes must be submitted immediately after the round has concluded.
• Disputes must be emailed to tournaments@wargamingamerica.com
• The email subject: Tank Destroyer Throwdown Dispute

 

Disputes must include the following in the body of the email or risk having the dispute dropped by tournament administration:

• In-game name of the player submitting the dispute
• Name of the tournament (Tank Destroyer Throwdown)
• Your team’s name with a link to your team’s page created for you during registration
• Your opponent’s team name and a link to your opponent’s team page created during registration
• Reason for dispute: e.g. “I would like to report the team for using a tank that was not allowed, the Pershing.”
• An attached replay of the disputed battle(s)

Does it have to be tier 8? Because if I could bring a lower tier TD I would bring a challenger then just get around them and go for the tracks

Tier 8 is the maximum allowed tier. You can bring a lower tiered TD if you would like

I really like the idea of 1v1 format, but a first place prize of only 500 gold is keeping me from going out and buyinng a T8 TD, like I would for a skirmish.  Any possibility of larger rewards in the future (possibly for a 2 day tourney instead of 1day?)

Right now we're intentionally keeping the prize low. There is the premium TD rental going on this weekend, so maybe that could work?

I've considered these 1v1s but 500 gold isn't worth taking time out of my schedule or missing out on grinding regular tanks (especially on a x5 weekend).

I'm not sure how well the Kanonen will do, but it's the only tier 8 TD in my garage...

I think if first place received maybe 250 thousand credits, and second place got 50k, in addition to the current prizes, these events would be much more popular. Right now they're just something you could do if you didn't have anything else planned, not something you'd plan for. If you gave out something like 500k credits to first and 150k to second, they'd become actively desirable and competitive, which probably isn't what they're designed to be. Maybe a 50% credit reserve to first, 25% to second, 15% to third would be better?

 

+1 for bringing a lower tier TD. Sounds like quite the adrenaline rush, trying to close the distance and get in behind while only having enough HP to survive one average roll from the beefier guns.

Yes but never convert gold to silver, probably the dumbest thing you can do with gold. Easy enough to grind for credits.

It would atleast help offset the cost of gold rounds+food.

If there was a cash prize of a few hundred thousand when the 1v1 tourney was in high tiers would definitely be nice.  Just to help recuperate the loss of buying then selling a T8 tank.  

 

I think it would be important to only give credit rewards over 50-100k, else people would start complaining about the amount.  (so, only credits for 1-3 place?)

Players play tourneys for the gold, not silver. If you want to increase participation, increase gold. The Silver would make no difference. For a prize of $3 its hardly worth bothering with.

in 3 of these so far i have made almost 1000 gold for about 25 minutes worth of battling so i would say its worth it .... its the disputes that take the fun out of any tournament imho for bringing in the wrong class of tanks

I readied up for my first battle and it said I had a technical defeat? Any way to fix that, a loss I didn't even get to play for
