It's good to keep an eye on your win rate, but don't obsess over it.  It will go up and down like a yo yo and tick you off more than politicians do!

It looks like you're leading with your chin ...

Have a little patience - Don't rush-in ...

If you're playing Call of Duty with your cartoon tanks, you need to stop that schitt.

Hang-back a little, observe, watch your map, weigh-in on the weak spots.

Don't depend upon your "teammates" for anything, but help them when you can.

If you have the cash, buy an IS-6 and max-it-out ...

Given your current play-style, you should find the IS-6 is a fairly forgiving and tough tank, and it earns creds really well.

Lastly, mouse my avi ...

My first big jump in winrate occurred when I realized that no matter what position my allies were on the map, the only person I could trust to reset cap was me.

Go to WoLabs or WotStats and look at your tanks.

Sort by win rate then by battles played.

Pick the tanks that you clearly sucked in and fix those first.

The ones with low battle counts will be easiest to correct.

This will also give you some clear progress.

Then just work your way up until you have addressed them all.

The other option is to do the opposite.

Sort by win rate and then games played.

Choose the ones you know you win with, and only drive those.

Master three tanks, and play, play, play.

Platoon and be carried.... works for me.

Get into a training clan and follow their plan.

You have to learn to flex.

When you're able to take a tier six light into a tier nine match and cause wins, you'll be on your way.

I actually like the second method better.  Take tanks you are best in and become a master of those.  You learn a lot about the game like that and can translate that knowledge to other tanks.

On my main I use the first method.

Everyday I pick my worst WN8 tank, and spend the evening grinding it up.

I like this way because I get to see progress on a daily basis.

The second style takes a lot more games played to move the needle so to speak.

OP:

I think you need learn to do damage. Don't worry about wins.

Do damage, and eventually the wins will start to follow.

I'm posting your quick stats.

Not to shame you, but rather to show you how your lack of damage is the real culprit.

Winrate: 44.18%
Battles: 3,588
Rating: 2,688
WN8: 479

I imagine you have a good spotting record? If so, you're rushing in too far too fast.

Learn the first contact point for each map and don't exceed them before you know what the enemy is doing.

You can clearly see on this heat map of Abbey where the teams will first run into each other.

BUT NEVER CAMP!

Hit them hard and fast then fall back.

Take up defensive positions in offensive locations and bail BEFORE the 's' hits the fan.

Truly good players flex to the middle and or high ground and start doing damage.

By doing this in the first minutes of the game, you will see more wins. Cause That Chaos!

DO NOT TOTALLY YOLO EITHER!

I call it; Find, Focus, Retreat, and Repeat.

Motive your teammates push by demonstrating when it is safe.

Keep checking that minimap ALL OF THE TIME!

Try to predict when your team is going to bog down and keep them moving.

If you can turn a few barrels, often your team will roll in and build up some momentum.

Spot for people who will actually use the information.

Get XVM and when you die, spec the good players.

See what they do.

Play, Play, Play!

My Growing List of Maxims:

• Proper Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.
• No Plan Survives Contact With The Enemy.
• He Who Defends Everything, Defends Nothing.
• The Best Defense Is A Good Offense.
• Defensive Positions In Offensive Locations Compels The Enemy's Attack.
• Don't Like Training? Try Dying.
• An Ounce Of Sweat Saves A Gallon Of Blood.
• Orders Are Only As Effective As They Are Understood.
• Speed Is Life.
• Cleverness Has Never Been Seen Associated With Long Delays.
• Lightning Has Struck Before The Thunder Is Heard.
• The First Minute Of The Battle Is The Most Important.
• It Is Easier To Beat Defenders Before They Get Into Position.
• Mobility, Concealment, And View Range Are Your Best Friends.
• Attack From Elevated Positions With The Widest Fields Of Fire.
• Divide And Conquer.
• Never Simply Exchange Blows With The Enemy.
• Only Pick Fights You Can Easily Win.
• Throw The Bulk Of Your Forces Against Your Enemy's Weakest Point.
• Attacking From The Flank Is Twice As Effective. From The Rear Thrice So.
• Just Because You're Taking Ground Does Not Mean You're Winning.
• The Fighting Withdrawal Is A Very Useful Tactic.
• Success Is One-Third Ability And Two-Thirds Luck.

Heck, now I've got myself jazzed up to improve!

Thanks Brother. Good Question.

Pay Attention, OP ... ^^^^

Not much fun in struggling with the tanks you suck at ...

Go back and pick-up the other tanks later-on, when you know more - think of them then as a personal challenge.

Right now, just focus on your best, most comfortable tanks.

PS - if you're gonna wear The Horse, learn the history ...

A saying I learned from my brush with the Bundeswehr, almost 50 years ago.

First time I've ever seen anyone else use it ... (though it might have really originated on the Gran Prix circuit)

Good Heat-map, too .... I'd forgotten about those.

I have but a few thou under my belt, and I did learn from watching the tankers with better stats play.  Videos, tutorials.  Yes.  But getting the hands on experience on a team occasionally with players up the PR than you helps.  Helped me and still does.

You need to pick a tier where you can learn how to actually aim for weak spots and do damage, it does little good to land a shot on a target if you are not doing any from of damage. I recommend getting a KV1 or an O-I for learning the basics until your skill improves well enough to start playing mediums and scouts again. If you are too passive you need to speed up but if you are anything like I am slow down as people these days have the habit of just sit and watch as their teams melt away.

If you got an older computer that has performance issues to where your frame rate is in the 20s or lower you have to upgrade! A slow comp makes playing more difficult than it needs to be and if your internet sucks start looking for ways to improve that.

you skipped steps there you need to be orange and lemon first before you can be a kiwi.

focus on dealing damage.

don't be too concerned with stats now, focus on dealing damage. are you consistently doing your HP in damage?

once you reach that level, focus on increasing it, to 1.5x your HP every game, consistently.

by the time you reach 2x your HP you should be green already (if not very close).

read GetGud( TM ) threads - there are a million, here & other sites

watch good players on Twitch/YouTube.

toon with better players and don't be afraid to ask why did you do x or y, why didn't we do this or that, what are you waiting for let's attack kickass and so on.

#1 thing you need is experience though so keep playing. aim for 5K battles, then 10K, keep active in game more and less on the forums :)

Any tank that you're playing you always need to:

- Trade well, try to always save your hp to the end of the battle.

- Don't rely in your team

- Do not go to a flank alone

- Learn weak spot from every tank

- Learn defensive and aggressive positions

- Always go back to base if it's needed (don't go to their cap if their whole team is in your base)

- Always use 75%+ crew for tier 6 and bellow and 100% with 1 skill+ tier 7 and above

Here some tips for each class of tank:

Heavy Tank:

- Know your tank learn your weak spot and protect them.

- Don't camp pls

- Always stay in cover where the arty can't shoot you. ( I know that there's some maps like Campnovka)

- Never show your side.

- If they outnumber you fall back until the ally can support you.

Medium Tanks

- In the beginning of the battle try to rush a position to get early shoots.

- Don't stop moving( if you stop they'll shot you)

- You can camp sometimes, some medium have good cammo and accuracy.

- You got good mobility so always be ready to flex around the map.

- Always consider your gun depression. (some position that you can do good with the Centurion Action X but be completely crapwith a T-62A.)

Light Tanks:

For me light tanks are the hardest tank to play, in my opinion you should play medium before play the scouts.

- Try to spot but maintain your hit points until the end of the battle (less tank, easier to flank)

- Know bushes that you can you to spot.

- Always pay attention in the map you can find someone alone and destroy them.

- Never trade shots you dont have alot of hp you dont want to waste it.

Tank Destroyers:

- Most of them have high alpha so its good to trade with them.

- Don't poke corners if your TD doesn't have a tower.

- Camp but not the whole match.

- Always stay on cover tankers will prioritize you since they don't want to lose half of their hp in one shot.

To get your WN8 better:

Play tanks that you're comfortable with.

Try to never use stock tanks.

Have an objective for your recent WN8, try to get 800 of recent WN8 then 1000, 1200 etc...

I've doing that for awhile, my recent wn8 was 1400 and it is 2500 right now, and my goal is to have at least 3000.

Ps: I dont know how to play arty that's why I didn't posted some tips of how to play with it.
