I got what happened in 8.6 and 9.3 incorrect it auto-bounces HEAT at 80 degrees. Straight HE seems to bounce at either really shallow angles, or at low velocities on spaced armor. Several sources (the old FTR, WG wikis, and guide forums all show this.) There are also several youtube videos showing bounces. (This happened to me last game in my JPZe100, HE bounced off the side.)

It won't. The shell will sometimes fail to penetrate, unless you're firing HEAT in which case yeah, it bounces.

 

P.S with the * new * Physics changes HE Bounces !!

Why would physics change the pen mechanics for high explosive shells?

 

My SU 100Y bounces at least once every MM

Why the hell are you firing HE from the SU-100Y and it's called a game/match/battle not an MM.

No I get HE not penetrating and not dealing damage but what I'm arguing is that HE doesn't bounce or ricochet, but fails to pen. It still explodes on the armor. That's what I believe.

I don't have automatic replays on my machine, but I am telling you, an HE round did no damage to me and XVM told me it was a "bounce". The more I look into this topic the more confused I get, but it has happened to me twice now.
We can take this to a training room if you want to.

back to HE. the problem is on the mechanics, HE behaves in a realy akward way becouse its coded to behave like that.

HE mechanics in a nutshell for a non pen hit:  0,5 * dmg *(1-impact dist / splash) -1.1 * nominal armor thickness*spall coeficient and quite sure that when it comes to spaced armor that formula is aplied twice.

 

heck i have hit ue 57 side tracks + 6mm armor with a 105 and he  took less than 100 dmg wich is not a surprise when you do the numbers

 

hit tracks = 0.5*410   = 210 dmg

remaining damage vs hull= 0.5*200 - 6 = 94

 

if you hit the tracks or gun with a low roll, the double reduction + splash distance reduction could produce a damage low enought for hellcat armor to negate it. 

 

personaly i think HE formula needs to be reworked in a way where the reduction is % instead of flat (nerf to big hitters without making smal calibers useless) and more based on the nominal armor.

 

furthermore they need to split cannons HE with arty HE, otherwise its simply imposible to balance the round when you have on the same tier 90-120mm guns shooting 100-150mm of nominal armor (front sides) and 150+ guns hitting 50mm of armor (roof).

Every MM is *** AUTO REPLAYED ***

 

Look in your WoT folder for Replays , copy it to your desk top

When you get a Wonky game,

 

go into REPLAYS FOLDER and Rename >>>>>>>>>>>>>  ** replay_last_battle.wotreplay **  <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

that will save your last battle

P.S. as soon as you hit ** BATTLE ** that file is REWRITTEN with the new battle

 

so you do not have to have replays turned on at all !!

No its not. I get "we didn't penetrate their armour" for 0 damage all the time. A few days ago even, I bounced a HESH shell from my Cent AX off the side of a 121s turret (the shell was intented for a waffle that had just died)

I've played my FV304 which fires only HE, hit the front of Jap heavies for no damage and the crew says "that one bounced".  In the after battles reports it shows multiple hits and some of the shells didn't penetrate.  HE can bounce.

Not true.  There are three settings, every replay saved, just the last one, and off completely.  What are you are talking about is the second option.  The third option is a thing, some people don't have hard drive room.

I've both bounced, shells from, and shot from arty. HE bounces happen. They shouldn't, but they do.

My thought exactly.  Its very easy to forget to load HE and end up firing a few AP before you realize.  Don't carry AP for KV-2 IMO.

Without a replay, nobody can really help you with this. All anybody can do is guess.  It is on you. Perhaps you could stop calling people "fanboys" long enough to just post your replay.
