Whenever I aim above ground level and try to shoot a tank on a ridge, my aiming reticle goes eccentric from where my gun is pointing. As soon as I bring it down slightly to ground level, they re-align. Any ideas - is it my mods ?

I've noticed this to with the same reticle mod, but it doesn't impact me much since the shell still goes straight. My assumption however is that it's the mod, but that's just an assumption.

This is likely due to the automatic shell drop compensation mechanism that WG is using.  They do model the drop of a shell in the course of flight due to gravity, but to simplify the game they added an automatic adjustment to the gun elevation based on the range to target that your mouse if over.  Effectively, when you're pointing at the sky, you're targeting an object in the far distance, so the barrel elevates automatically to account for the shell drop, and when bring your cursor down to point at a ground object much close to you barrel elevation automatically adjusts to the new range.

I have seen this as well and it makes leading targets on a ridge very difficult.

It's built in per the earlier poster and annoying as hell.

It's built in to the game, automatic shell arc compensation

you can lead targets on ridgelines by pointing at the ground just under where the sky meets, the gun will automatically adjust and loop the shell just slightly over the ridgeline

this is a GOOD THING. its telling you that it is calculating shell drop, so the shell wont just fly into the air.

when you are aiming at the sky, and you see the ret drop like that, it means the game knows you want to aim just above the terrain, and not into a point somewhere in the sky thus your shell would actually fly much much higher into the air to "arc" all the way to the point in the sky you are aiming at.

Also take into account, if there are obstructions, even if it's just a tree, fence or breakable wall, you're reticle will switch to it and the target depending on where you aim. Sometimes just have to take the shot at the wall, it'll still hit most likely, but it will "look" like it's not on target.
